These changes and additions have madeWednesdayseason 2 even better than season 1 in some respects. Likewise,Wednesdayseason 2, part 1’s endingdoes a great job of balancing answering big questions, like the identities ofWednesday’s season 2 stalkerand the Avian. With the focus turning to part 2, there is one storyline that will never get a satisfying conclusion.

Xavier Never Returning Means His & Wednesday’s Romance Story Will Never Be Resolved

Like any good finale episode,Wednesdayseason 1’s endingsolved the show’s central mystery while leaving a bit of intrigue for future seasons. As part of this,Wednesdayseason 1 set up a bigger romance between Wednesday and Xavier Thorpe that could have been explored in season 2.

Though Wednesday chose Tyler Galpin in season 1, the reveal that he was the Hyde terrorizing Jericho effectively put a stop to their budding romance. However, since the show had set up a love triangle for its main character, Xavier and Wednesday were clearly the main romance lined up for season 2.

This teased romance will never come to fruition, though, becauseWednesday’s creators have confirmed that Xavier will never return. This decision comes as a result of sexual assault allegations leveled against the actor, Percy Hynes White, which ultimately led to his exit from the series.

Given the behind-the-scenes turmoil, it is understandable that the character will not return in the future. The show even explains his exit by saying that Xavier moved to a new boarding school. While this does leave his and Wednesday’s romance unresolved, it is safe to assume that Wednesday has moved on from her feelings for her fellow Nevermore student.

Will Wednesday Ever Have Another Romantic Interest In Netflix’s Show?

After setting Wednesday up with two potential love interests in season 1,Wednesdayseason 2, part 1 does not give Wednesday any romance at all. This seemingly drastic change is actually unsurprising given thatJenna Ortega has been vocal about her dislike of season 1’s love triangle.

TheWednesdayactor has stated that she feels that the season 1 storyline did not make sense for the character of Wednesday. Wednesday is quite an independent character who does not form connections with just anyone, so giving her two love interests rang false.

To a certain extent, including love interests in a teen show can be a great addition, but that isn’t the main focus ofWednesday. As a result, it seems unlikely that Wednesday will have any significant love interests anytime soon, but the series does leave the option open for the future, just in case.
