Sentry’s arrival in theMarvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)marks a major milestone for a potential new mightiest hero, butwith the X-Men set to appear inAvengers: Doomsdayand beyond, he could have some serious competition. TheThunderbolts*introduced Sentry to the MCU and showcased his incredible powerset, which establishes him as a force to be reckoned with.
With laser vision, flight, super strength, super speed, and some degree of telekinetic powers,Sentry can handle most of the heroes who’ve appeared in the MCU so far with ease. However, the X-Men are a different breed. With someX-Men displaying powers that rank them as Omega level, and positioning them alongside gods in the MCU, Sentry may not be on top for long.
10Storm
Weather Control Powers
Starting off strong, Storm is a powerful mutant capable of controlling the weather.But beyond this, Storm can literally summon major weather events like lightning and hurricanes. This means she has an impressive ability to fight her rivals from a distance, and control the battlefield itself.
Sentry has some serious skills, and his super speed could see him handle Storm’s attacks with some ease, butif Storm creates distance, shrouds Sentry in fog, and hits him with lightning strikes and hurricanes, she could get the advantage.However, she will need to act quickly, and get the jump on her rival.
9Magneto
Mastery Over Metal
Magneto is a brutal fighter. With his ability to control and manipulate metal, he often obliterates his rivals in any built-up space.And considering his status as an Omega-level mutant, his powers have been shown to extend to carrying entire bridges and performing spectacular feats.
He could also use large beams to try and trap Sentry, though his strength would make light work of the beams.
Assuming Magneto and Sentry are fighting somewhere where metal is plentiful, he could create a magnetic barrier around himself, and send metal shards flying at Sentry.He could also use large beams to try and trap Sentry, though his strength would make light work of the beams. If Magneto acts fast and goes on the offensive as he is prone to do, hecould overpower Sentry.
8Quicksilver
Unmatched Speed
Sentry may be super fast, but Quicksilver is on another level.When he appeared inX-Men: Days of Future Past, he was able to use his powers to outrun an explosion, saving dozens of students, and manipulating enemies. This level of speed puts him way ahead of Sentry.
While his speed is unmatched, his strength is average at best.In a fight against Sentry, Quicksilver would need to use his environment to get the advantage, or simply outrun his rival. Fortunately, his chances of surviving a fight against Sentry are incredibly high, thanks to being able to escape if things go wrong. But whether he’d actually win a fight is another story.
7Wolverine
Adamantium Claws and Healing Factor
Wolverine is one of the most beloved heroes to appear in theX-Menmovies.And over the course of his time on the big screen, he has proven his powers are exceptional. Not only is he a top-tier fighter, whoseAdamantium claws could do damage to Sentrydespite his invulnerability, but his healing factor allows him to push beyond other mutants' limits.
This was best seen inX-Men: The Last Stand, when Logan was the only one who could approach Jean Grey after she was taken over by the Phoenix. His healing ability worked faster than her powers to tear him apart, and allowed him to get close enough to land a fatal blow.
In a fight with Sentry, Logan is sure to take some heavy blows, but with his claws and his healing factor, there is no chance he is going down before the Golden Guardian of Good. Wolverine could take this fight and recover in record time.
6Deadpool
Enhanced Healing Factor
Deadpool has some powers in common with Wolverine in terms of an incredible healing factor.However, Deadpool’s healing factor seems a little slower than Wolverines. Despite this, Deadpool is also a much more violent and unpredictable rival.
Where Logan may try to avoid fatally taking down his rival, Deadpool doesn’t spend a lot of time thinking about the damage he causes. Deadpool is likely to put his skills as an assassin to work, and go hard against Sentry’s attacks.
In addition, while Sentry could withstand a lot of attacks from Wade Wilson, Wade’s ruthless determination ensures he finds a way to take down his rivals. It would be a long fight, and could consist of several rounds, but Wade is likely to find a way to take down his target.
5Apocalypse
Immortality and Multiple Powers
En Sabah Nur, aka Apocalypse, is a powerful mutant who was born in Ancient Egypt.He was the firstborn of the second wave of mutants. He was also one of a special group of mutants who possesses the power of immortality in addition to other abilities.
Apocalypse’s immortal status ensures that he won’t die in a fight against Sentry, but his powers may give him an advantage in the fight.
Even without the aid of his disciples,Apocalypse has tremendous powerthat could put his opponents of the back foot. He has many powers in common with Sentry, such as super strength, invulnerability, and telekinetic powers, buthe can also manipulate matter.In addition, he can give himself new powers, increasing his arsenal and making him nearly unstoppable.
4Professor X
Telekinetic and Psychic Abilities
While Professor X may appear more feeble and weak than many other mutants, his powers are also ranked as Omega-level.His telekinetic and psychic abilities allow him to get inside people’s heads, and see and understand more than most.
While Sentry is undeniably more powerful, and Professor X’s desire to work peacefully means he would attempt to de-escalate conflict rather than win a fight,Sentry’s weakness is his mind, and that is Professor X’s domain to get an advantage and win the fight.
3Rogue
Power Absorption by Touch
Rogue has the incredible powerto acquire other abilities through touch.If she came in contact with Sentry, she could absorb his powers, and use them against him.
Alone, this may not be enough to win a fight, but as mentioned above,Sentry’s mental state is fragile.While Rogue is not always seen as a picture of mental health, she is certainly more stable than Sentry. So, with his powers at her disposal, she could definitely get the upper hand in a fight.
2Cassandra Nova
Aggressive Psychic Powers
Cassandra Nova is Professor X’s sister, who was banished to the void from a young age in the MCU.However, her powers appear to be remarkably similar to her brothers.
While Charles Xavier is typically unwilling to act offensively,Cassandra has no such issues,and she relishes dominating her rivals. As a result, she could get inside Sentry’s head, and tear him apart from the inside.
If she gets a chance to lay her hands on Sentry, she could presumably do some serious permanent damage to his mental state.
On top of that,Cassandra’s powers are even more concentrated through touch, so if she gets a chance to lay her hands on Sentry, she could presumably do some serious permanent damage to his mental state.
1Jean Grey
The Phoenix Force
Finally, Jean Grey tops the list with her incredible power as theembodiment of the Phoenix Force.Like Professor X and Cassandra Nova, Jean can wield telekinetic powers and access peoples' minds. However, the Phoenix Force takes this to another level.
When under the control of the Phoenix Force,Jean becomes a more primitive, carnal creature who is unafraid to dismantle beings on a molecular level.Without the inhibition of human emotion, Jean utterly destroys her opponents.
In a fight between Jean at full power and the Sentry, Jean is almost assured to win, dismantling the Sentry mentally, and then physically in a display of total domination. However, Sentry may stand a chance if Jean Grey remains in control, and the Phoenix doesn’t come out to play in theMCU.
