9-1-1: Nashville’s Trailer Features A Fire Tornado

Months ahead of its premiere, ABC released apromo clip for9-1-1: Nashvillethatfeatures a fire tornado (or two) terrorizing the city of Nashville. The video contains an animation of the city, as a cover of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” fittingly plays in the background. It mostly depicts emergency vehicles (ambulances, fire trucks, and helicopters) driving on what looks to be Broadway Street. They respond to the disaster, teasing what’s to come when9-1-1: Nashvillepremieres in the fall of 2025.

The9-1-1: Nashvilletrailer also shows a sign that reads, “Expandsthe9-1-1universe,” before referencing big names in the series.Other signs (like marquees) mention starring cast members like O’Donnell, Capshaw, Rimes, and Williams-Paisley,in addition to executive producer/co-creator Ryan Murphy. Then, the video follows the helicopter as it circles the fire tornado, while lightning and a second tornado can be seen in the background tearing through Nissan Stadium (where the NFL team, the Tennessee Titans, play).

How A Fire Tornado May Have Started In 9-1-1: Nashville

Fire Tornadoes Are Rare

The already exciting9-1-1: Nashvilleteaser is made even more thrilling with the addition of not one, but two fire tornadoes (also known as fire whirls), because the disaster is quite unique. The phenomenon is very rare, especially in Nashville.Fire whirls mostly happen near areas that are more subject to wildfires, like California. However, one happening in Nashville isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility (two might be pushing it, but the9-1-1franchise’s disastersaren’t exactly known to be 100 percent realistic).

TBA

Unlike the fire tornado inthe 2024 blockbuster movieTwisters, the phenomenon in the real world typically materializes from fires themselves instead of an already-formed tornado catching on fire. It would be closer to what happens inFire Countryseason 2, episode 5. I won’t get too deep into the science, butthe fire whirls seen in the9-1-1: Nashvilletrailer likely took shape via wildfiresor another type of fire. Fans must tune in to the ABC procedural drama’s premiere to learn more, though.

A Fire Tornado Is A Unique Way To Launch 9-1-1’s Second Spinoff

9-1-1: Nashville Needs To Set Itself Apart From Its Predecessors

9-1-1has eight seasons under its belt while9-1-1: Lone Starran for five seasons, meaning both shows have explored numerous different kinds of disasters. It would be difficult for9-1-1: Nashvilleto start off with a crisis that wouldn’t be able to be compared to other emergencies in the9-1-1universe. However, the writers found a disaster that the franchise has never done before — fire tornadoes. It’s a great way to kick off the spinoff asit immediately makes the series unique. The fire tornado disaster will make9-1-1: Nashvillestand out, giving the offshoot its best chance to succeed.
