Warning: Contains SPOILERS forGodzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe#2!There’s a reasonGodzillais known as the King of the Monsters, and that reason is that he is quite literally the strongest being on Planet Earth. Any kaiju who dares challenge him constantly ends up defeated in the end, which only reinstates Godzilla’s kingly status. And now, the King of the Monsters has a brand-new power that makes him even more invincible.
InGodzilla Destroys the Marvel Universe#2 by Gerry Duggan, Paco Medina, and Javier Garrón,Godzilla has crossed over into the Marvel Comics continuity, and the heroes are scrambling to stop his rampage. Wakanda is attempting to create a powerful new vibranium weapon to take Godzilla down, but in the meantime, the King of the Monsters is wreaking havoc upon New York City.

Some superheroes based in New York City, like Ant-Man, Wasp, and Spider-Man, are working together to try to defeat Godzilla before the kaiju can do even more damage. Unfortunately, none of their attacks leaves even a scratch on the monster. And what’s worse? Spider-Man can’t even see Godzilla’s subsequent attacks coming becauseGodzilla is immune to Spider-Man’s spider-sense.
Godzilla Joins a Short List of Those Immune to Spider-Man’s Spider-Sense
While there have been instances here and there of surprise characters finding ways to go around Spider-Man’s spider-sense throughout the character’s vast Marvel Comics legacy, the only one of note who is consistently immune is Venom. Since the Venom symbiote first bonded to Peter Parker before Eddie Brock,Venom became immune to Spider-Man’s spider-sense.
Now, it’s revealed that Venom isn’t the only character in the Marvel Universe who is immune to Spider-Man’s spider-sense, as Godzilla now shares that honor. And, just like when Venom was a Spider-Man villain (not the Lethal Protector he is today), Spider-Man has no way of sensing when Godzilla is going to attack him next, which adds another layer of horror to this city-destroying monster.

Godzilla is Immune to More Than Just Spider-Man’s Spider-Sense
Spider-Man isn’t the only hero in New York City trying to take down Godzilla, as Ant-Man and the Wasp are also working to defeat the kaiju. They are using weaponized Pym Particles to do the trick, but as this issue reveals, Godzilla is immune to the Pym Particles just as he is immune to Spider-Man’s spider-sense.
Based on this preview, Godzilla seems to be immune to the Marvel Universe itself. It’s as if he is beyond the powers of Marvel’s heroes, and will continue to destroy this world without even the slightest challenge. This new upgrade given toGodzillamakes the King of the Monsters way stronger than he’s ever been, and only time will tell if the Marvel Universe will survive his destruction.
