A set of new character leaks fromGenshin Impact5.7 has been shared, and based on the information that has been revealed so far, I’m somewhat concerned that the game will repeat one of its past mistakes with this unit’s upcoming release. The action RPG is currently going through the second half of Version 5.5 and most of the leaks-oriented attention is dedicated to Version 5.6– thanks to the patch’s beta tests, a lot of leaks are emerging, revealing reliable information about its contents, such asEscoffier’s gameplay kit inGenshin Impact5.7or even Ifa’s Ascension materials.
While the majority of the current leaks are focused on Version 5.6, the next patch that should be revealed with the upcoming livestream, some rumors about the following update, Version 5.7, are already being discussed by leakers. So far, there have been a lot of mentions about Skirk, a highly anticipated character who is expected to be released in Version 5.7. Although they don’t stem from the beta tests and, as such, should be taken with an extra grain of salt, the leaks have shown thatSkirk’s dependence on Cryo meta inGenshin Impactmay be detrimental to her kit.

Gameplay Details About Dahlia Have Finally Leaked
They Are Rumored To Be A 4-Star Hydro Buffer
Even though the majority of the leaks have been about Skirk, who is largely awaited since her appearance as an NPC at the end of the main Fontaine story arc,it’s likely that there will be at least one other character release in Version 5.7: Dahlia. Earlier this year, developer HoYoverse revealed an image with the silhouettes of several characters that would be released in the patches leading up to Version 6.0. The majority of them have already been released, such as Iansan, Mizuki, andVaresa inGenshin Impact, but after Version 5.6’s Ifa and Escoffier, two silhouettes will remain.
Those silhouettes belong to Skirk and another unit that has been commonly referred to as Dahlia in the leaks. Because rumors point toward the end of the current year of content in Version 5.7, this is also likely the patch they will be released in. A lot is known about Skirk, but little had been leaked about Dahlia until now. A new leak shared by Team Mew in a post flagged as “Questionable” onRedditreveals more information aboutDahlia inGenshin Impact, stating thatthey will be a 4-star Hydro unit who may serve as an Attack Speed buffer.

Dahlia May Repeat Mika’s Mistake In Genshin Impact
The New Character May Be Dispensable
The leak also mentions that, for now, Dahlia will have minimal synergy with Skirk, though that is subject to change as more tests are performed on both characters – likely during the Version 5.7 beta tests starting just before the arrival of Version 5.6 in early May.What is concerning about this particular leak is the mention that Dahlia will be an Attack Speed buffer, but, moreover, a 4-star unit performing this role. HoYoverse has already committed a blunder of the same type in the past with a similar character release from Mondstadt inGenshin Impact.
For reference, there is speculation that Dahlia will also be a character from Mondstadt.

The release of Mika was something of a disaster, as the character is easily one of the worst supports in the game. Much like the rumored Dahlia, Mika is a 4-star unit who is capable of buffing his allies’ Attack Speed. Furthermore, Mika can heal allies and provide Physical DMG buffs. With the exception of his healing abilities, which still pale in comparison to other 4-star units like Bennett and Barbara, Mika’s buffing abilities are suboptimal and, overall, dispensable. Attack Speed, in general, isn’t one of the most needed stats inGenshin Impact, so Mika can easily be substituted.
I’m concerned that this will repeat itself with Dahlia’s upcoming release if the leaks about their role in team comps are accurate. If Dahlia’s main role in team comps is to provide Attack Speed, they will have to do so decently, and even if they are capable of achieving this, their usage will be extremely limited. As was mentioned, Attack Speed isn’t one of the most required stats in the game, and it only really benefits some characters – usually those who use Normal Attacks as their main source of damage output inGenshin Impact, but even that is limited.

Which Characters Dahlia May Serve As A Support For In Genshin Impact
Dahlia May Help Normal Attack DPS Characters
If the leaks about Dahlia are true, then they may serve as a support for some characters who can take advantage of improved Attack Speed. This includes characters like Ayato, Ayaka, Itto, and even Yoimiya. With more Attack Speed, these characters can strike more often and, with it, improve their general damage output against enemies. Depending on how their Attack Speed buff is presented, Dahlia could even serve as an ally toWanderer inGenshin Impact. The big issue is how relevant Dahlia will be in comparison to other units that perform somewhat similar roles.
Dahlia’s rumored Attack Speed buff could easily be supplemented by Mika or a C6 Yun Jin, for example. Unless their leaked Attack Speed buff is consistent, available at C0, and better than that which is offered by these units, there may not be a reason to employ Dahlia in team comps –perhaps the only advantage they could bring is the activation of Hydro Resonance with Ayato, for example, or the possibility of triggering other Reactions with any of the aforementioned characters. Aside from the Normal Attack Speed buff, Wanderer doesn’t have synergy with C6Yun Jin inGenshin Impact.

Even so, it may still be better to employ Faruzan with Wanderer than Dahlia. The same applies to the other characters Dahlia may work with.Overall, it may be worth sacrificing extra Attack Speed and investing in more damage output via Attack, Max HP, and CRIT buffs; even if striking slower than they normally would with Dahlia’s rumored buff, each hit would deal more damage naturally, compensating for it. It really depends on what else Dahlia will bring to the table compared to what the current 4-star support units have to offer to these characters, includingWriothesley inGenshin Impact.
For now, the leaks about Dahlia should be considered with caution. The information provided may be incorrect or subject to change, not considering the fact that it is deeply incomplete. As such, Dahlia’s kit may prove to be a lot different from what it is currently expected to be based solely on these leaks. The positive aspect of the leak is that the game may get another 4-star character to expand its roster, which is much-needed, considering the majority of the character releases recently are 5-star units inGenshin Impact.
