The zombie K-drama is officially in production again, with four new actors joining the returning cast.
While the newcast ofAll of Us Are Deadseason 2is exciting and makes me even more excited for the show, the reveal that really caught my eye was the fact that all four main actors will return.All of Us Are Deadis not hiding that Yoon Chan-youn will be in season 2, which can only mean one thing for Cheong-san.
Yoon Chan-youn’s Character Is Back
Cheong-san seemed to have sacrificed himselfat the end ofAll of Us Are Deadseason 1. He stayed behind to find Gwi-nam after getting bitten in the arm and made sure that the villain wouldn’t hurt the rest of the group. Cheong-san and Gwi-nam fell from the top of the construction site right as the area was being bombarded by the military.
Althoughwe never saw Cheong-san’s body, it was hard to imagine how someone could have survived both the fall and the explosion. That being said, once Yoon Chan-youn was featured in the season 2 announcement video back in 2022, we couldn’t help but wonder whether Cheong-san had indeed survived.
But now that Netflix has revealed the full cast ofAll of Us Are Dead2, there is no question left – Cheong-san will return. What’s more, we know that this isn’t for flashbacks or visions.Cheong-san will be part of season 2’s story, which will take place some time after the events of the first season.
MostAll of Us Are Deadfans were already assuming that Cheong-san was going to return, but it’s nice to finally have confirmation.All of Us Are Deadhas amazing characters, but the core four are the heart and soul of the show. It would have been strange to have a second season without Cheong-san.
Cheong-san Will Be Dealing With The Aftermath Of The Outbreak In Season 2
In addition to the casting reveal,Netflix has also shared a synopsis forAll of Us Are Dead2. The new season will see On-jo in Seoul for college as"the zombie outbreak spreads beyond the high school and into fresh territory.“Cheong-san, Nam-ra, and Su-hyeok will all be"grappling with the aftermath of the disaster"and how it changed their lives.
It’s interesting how Cheong-san seems to be back living a somewhat normal life, which is surprising given how season 1 ended. We still don’t know much about whatAll of Us Are Deadseason 2 will look like, butI am shocked that Cheong-san’s return is being treated so nonchalantly.

The time skip is not surprising, though, even more so after it took so long for the show to resume production. It would be strange to have the cast still playing high schoolers so many years after season 1 wrapped.
It Would Explain How He Survived
One thing Netflix hasn’t revealed about Cheong-san’s return is whether or not he is a hambie now. Cheong-san becoming a hambie would explain how he survived, and it would create a whole new dynamic for the character in season 2. From the story details that we have now,it doesn’t seem like On-jo and Cheong-san have reunited.
Maybe Cheong-san has chosen not to reunite with his friends, which would only make sense if he is now a hambie who could be dangerous to them. It’s also worth noting thatCheong-san was bitten by a hambie, which, as far as we’ve seen, turns you into a hambieas well.
There is also the matter of Nam-ra, whose role in season 2 intrigues me. The last time we saw Nam-ra, she was living with other hambies out in the open, and it didn’t seem like she would come back with the group.
All of Us Are Deadseason 1 ended on a cliffhanger, literally, as Nam-ja jumped off the rooftop. I’m curious to learn what happened to her and the rest of the hambies, especially because the military was making no distinction between regular zombies and asymptomatic ones.
Despite the confirmation that the show is now filming,All of Us Are Deadseason 2 doesn’t have a release date.
Nam-ra’s story may be tied to Cheong-san’s return, especially if he is actually a hambie. Either way, I can’t wait to find out more about how Cheong-san survived, and what will happen to him inAll of Us Are Deadseason 2.
