The various slow-life tasks ofAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsare incredibly relaxing and cozy, and have given players enough content to enjoy that many are still faithfully visiting their islands over five years after its initial release. Games in this series are designed to be laid-back, without too many stresses of things that need to happen and no time limits, even on paying back Tom Nook’s loans. However, there’s still always more that can be added to make a game even better, including taking an idea from another popular title.

As we all await the announcement of a newAnimal Crossinggame on the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s fun to think of what things could belearned from the previousACgamesand new mechanics that could feasibly be added. Fans of the series are always debating which game was the best and for what reasons, whileeveryone holds out hope that the next title will be even better.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Has Better Side Content

Cooking For The Café Is Especially Satisfying

Animal Crossinggames have a lot going for them, but occasionally, things can feel a bit stagnant. This is whereDisney Dreamlight Valleyseems to pick up the torch by having a plethora of satisfying side contentto enjoy. Whether it comes from new storylines or events, or something as common as cooking meals,DDVgives its players a substantial amount of variety.

It’s true thatfarming and cooking were added toACNHa year after the game launched, but even then, it felt like something was missing from making it as fun as it could be. The restaurant mechanic of cooking meals for characters inDDVand the sheer number of recipes that are in the game make cooking feel truly special.

An Animal Crossing: New Horizons character stands in a fully decorated kitchen with a proud look on their face.

Growing ingredients in a garden, cooking them all together, and then presenting a beautiful meal for a villager ismuch more rewarding inDDVthan it is inACNH.

Animal Crossing’s Next Game Should Lean Into Cooking

Added Late In ACNH’s Life, So Much More Could Be Done

Just imaginehow fun it would be ifACNHhad a café on the islandthat players could cook meals for? Though it won’t happen forNew Horizons, it is still something that would be fun to see in the next game, and could be done similarly toDDV.

It wouldn’t need to be a necessary focus of the game, but simply another bit of content that could be available for players to enjoy if they want to. Of course, decorating a restaurant would also be wonderful to see, and gives us more functionality for many of the items in the game.
