It’s hard to believe it’s been two years sinceBaldur’s Gate 3was fully released, making the jump from one act in early access to three epic acts for the full game. To mark the occasion, Larian Studios has released some fascinating statistics, breaking down the data at their fingertips about their player base. From mods to achievements, this data provides a fascinating glimpse into how people play the game differently.

Larian has released thestatsin a post on theBaldur’s Gate 3Steam community page andcontains a great mixture of information about what players get up to in their playthroughs. Several things immediately stand out, including the fact that over 8,500BG3modshave been uploaded, with a whopping 265 million mod downloads. However, for me, it is the data concerning gameplay achievements and companion respecs that really offer the most insight.

What BG3’s Birthday Post Reveals About Players

From Repecced Origin Companions To Honor Mode

Looking atBaldur’s Gate 3by the numbers,Larian breaks down some of the least earned and obscure achievements. Examples given are ones such as defeating 20 enemies while drunk or theincredibly easy achievementof earning 100 gold from busking. Honor mode makes an appearance in the post, with 4647 players managing to beat the notorious mode using just a first-level character.

These achievement stats really show how ingenious and thorough some players are with their playthroughs. The respec choices also shed light on player priorities, with many opting for power rather than lore with their changes. Paladins and Hexblade Warlocks really come into their own with Karlach, Lae’zel, Astarion, and Wyll all benefiting from class makeovers.

BG3’s Biggest Stats Surprises

Someone Needs To Check On Minsc & The Tieflings

There are, of course, some unexpected stats in the mix. Among the data of how many people adopted a child with Wyll or beat Honor Mode with a Jack of all Trades character are a couple of stats that caught me by surprise. One of which seems to baffle Larian just as much as it turns out350 players decided to respec Minsc into a Death Domain cleric. And although I understand the subclass is excellent, I do question why they’d choose Minsc, as there arefunnier ways to respec your companions.

The finalBaldur’s Gate 3statistic that shocked me washow few people have to keep all the tieflings alive, letting all the Elturel refugees reach Baldur’s Gate in one piece. Only 5% of players have managed to obtain theLeave No One Behind achievement, which does take some planning ahead of time but is easy once you know how. I’d love to see more data from Larian in the future and sincerely hope that this birthday tradition continues for a few more years.
