When Ashley won the Power of Veto, Vince nominated Kelley Jorgensen for eviction, who later won the BB Blockbuster competition and removed herself from the chopping block. This meant thatZae and Amy were the final nominees.

After an earlier blowup with returning houseguest,Big Brother 13winner Rachel Reilly, Zae informed his fellow contestants during his eviction speech that, if they voted for him to stay,he’d lead the charge to get Rachel out of the house, while her ally, Amy, would always be a vote for her. However, his plan didn’t work, and he was evicted by a vote of 9-5.

In an interview withParade,Zae explained the strategy behind why he targeted Rachel, stating that Amy was her closest ally. He said,“Amy wasn’t really in there playing necessarily a game. She was kind of just on Rachel’s leash. And so Rachel essentially has two votes right now, and she’s the player that has the most experience in the game.”

Zae’s plan was to make Rachel look like more of a threat than him, stating that he wasn’t that much of a threat if he lost all of the competitions. He said that"people were already kind of scared of her for whatever reason,“so he thought that people would think,“Okay. We can use him until he gets rid of Rachel for us, because no one else wants to do it. And then we can evict him.”

Zae continued,“That’s what I was going for. And then, obviously, in that time, I would hopefully make strategies to stay in longer after I get out Rachel. But that was kind of my goal going into it.I wanted to make her look like a bigger target.”

Zae concluded by saying,“Amy’s with her, and so if I can play that card, then maybe it’ll downplay the target that I am, and then maybe they want to keep me.”

Obviously, Amy was her closest ally. And Amy wasn’t really in there playing necessarily a game. She was kind of just on Rachel’s leash. And so Rachel essentially has two votes right now, and she’s the player that has the most experience in the game. And so I figured that, if I get evicted, there’s a decent chance, because people view me as a threat, which obviously I can’t be that much of a threat if I lost all the competitions. But I thought if I could kind of make me look less of a threat, and Rachel as more of a threat. Because people were already kind of scared of her for whatever reason. Then it could help me stay in the game, especially if I come up and say that I will target her. I thought people would maybe do that as kind of like, “Okay. We can use him until he gets rid of Rachel for us, because no one else wants to do it. And then we can evict him.” That’s what I was going for. And then, obviously, in that time, I would hopefully make strategies to stay in longer after I get out Rachel. But that was kind of my goal going into it. I wanted to make her look like a bigger target. Amy’s with her, and so if I can play that card, then maybe it’ll downplay the target that I am, and then maybe they want to keep me.

What Zae Frederich’s Failed Plan To Target Rachel Reilly Means For Big Brother 27

Rachel Is A Dangerous Threat

When Zae started to target Rachel, she warned him that he should be careful coming for the queen because he’d be beheaded. That’s exactly what happened when the houseguests decided to vote out Zae instead of Amy. The vote was split between the men and the women, except for Rylie and Kelley, with the men voting to keep Zae, and the women voting for Amy.

Rachel is a dangerous threat in the gamebecause not all of the houseguests see her that way. In fact, many of them want to work with her and learn from her. The women would rather take out the big physical threats in the guys' alliance, which means thatRachel will be able to fly under the radar and then lash out when she needs to.

Zae’s failed plan to target Rachel through Amy didn’t work, and now the guys have two fewer numbers in their alliance because, not only did they lose Zae, butRylie Jeffries secretly voted him out in order to protect Amy and Rachel. In addition, the all-guys Burger Boys alliance has fractured because of the rogue vote. Zae overestimated his fellow houseguests' desire to eliminate Rachel, and he paid the price for it.

Our Take On Zae Going After Rachel

It Was Too Early For Zae To Make That Move

Although Zae’s plan to remove Rachel from theBig Brotherhouse made sense, it was too early in the game for him to take such a big swing. His blowup with Rachel made him appear to be a loose cannon, which is never a good look in theBig Brotherhouse.Zae got overconfidentand wanted to be known as the player who removed a legend from the game, but it backfired on him.

Zae’s eviction should serve as a warning to anyone who decides to attempt to go up against Rachel in the future. Right now,the support to evict her simply isn’t there. This is evident from the fact that evencurrent HOH Jimmy Heagerty, who was gunning for Rachel when she first walked into house, is no longer targeting her.

When Zae told Rachel that, as long as he was in the house, she’d never be a two-timeBig Brotherwinner, she responded that he’d better know what he was doing if he was coming for her. Clearly, he didn’t think things through because his plan didn’t work.Zae made a big mistake by targeting Rachel, and now she’s one step closer to winningBig Brotherfor a second time.
