TheBlue Bloodsspinoff,Boston Blue, features changes from the original show, and one of its most controversial is being seen in a new light following a new behind-the-scenes video. It has been less than a year sinceBlue Bloodsended, and its universe and characters are already returning to the small screen. When they do, many things will be different, though.

Boston Blue Is Recasting Sean Reagan, & That’s Risky

Andrew Terraciano Played Danny’s Son In Blue Bloods

Boston Bluerecast the majorBlue Bloodscharacter, Sean Reagan. As some may remember, Andrew Terraciano originated the role in the original CBS police procedural TV series, but he won’t make the jump fromBlue Bloodsto its upcoming spinoff. Instead, a new actor,Mika Amonsen, will take over the role of Sean (aka Danny’s youngest son) inBoston Blue.

Boston Bluereportedly recast Sean because the spinoff is taking the character in a new creative direction.

In the offshoot,Sean relocates to Boston to follow in his family’s footsteps and start a career in law enforcement. It’s unclear what prompted his move. However, it explains why Danny leaves his life in New York and trades it for a fresh start in Boston.

Mika Amonsen

Sean Reagan

Boston Bluerecasting Sean is risky for various reasons. Most importantly, Terraciano appeared as Sean in everyBlue Bloodsepisodeexcept one (292). He played the character for 14 years. So,when fans think of Sean, they imagine Terraciano. It would be difficult for any new actor to convince viewers they are the character they have known for over a decade.

The 2 Actors Bear A Resemblance

Amonsen will attempt to win overBlue Bloodsfans as this new version of Sean. Thankfully, a newbehind-the-scenes video from theBoston Bluesetproves that the actor can embody the role of Danny’s son.The Instagram accountbostonbluefansposted the video on their page. In it, Wahlberg and Amonsen can be seen filming, and Amonsen bears a striking resemblance to Terraciano.

The clip features Wahlberg’s Danny and Amonsen’s Sean running to help a man who has been shot. It doesn’t spoil much about what’s to come in the spinoff, but it certainly eases concerns that some might have about the recast of Sean. Hopefully, the similarities go further than just looks, and Amonsen will make the change feel like nothinginBostonBlue.
