As a wave of news about the newly-revealedCall of Duty: WW2begins to come flooding in, some new screenshots of in-game footage have been leaked from the game’s official site. The images were caught and quickly taken down, but not before they were saved and re-posted by fans online.
The leaked screenshots are low resolution and don’t reveal much about the upcoming title, but they do look to be showing off our first glimpse of theCall of Duty: WW2campaign. The images were located on the login page for user profiles, and have since been replaced. Alongside this, the game’s box art has also been revealed through alisting on Amazon, although this may just be a placeholder for the final artwork.
Since yesterday’s reveal of the World War 2-themed shooter, we have been waiting eagerly to see what theCall of Dutyfranchise plans to do, to keep up withBattlefield 1’s rather dominant hold on the FPS industry. For now we have very little to go on, but a full reveal livestream is scheduled for Wednesday, April 26 10 AM PT, so presumably we won’t be waiting too long for the details.
According to developer Sledgehammer games,Call of Duty: WW2is set to be itsbiggest game to date, with the company needing to hire a large amount of new employees just to aid in development. Of course, theCODfranchise attracts a lot of fans each year, but Sledgehammer will have to pull out all the stops if it wants to bring back old fans who have dropped off the series.
Rumors of theCall of Dutyseries finally taking place in the past again have been surfacing for a while now, with publisher Activision declaring its intention to bring the franchiseback to its roots. Time will only tell whether the long-running series can bring back some of the same hype that it had back when last WW2 game,World at War,released.
Call of Duty: WW2has a leaked release date of November 3rd for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
