Marve Comics Introduces David Colton, the Forgotten Super-Soldier

David Wielded the Shield When Steve Rogers First Came Back

Everyoneknows that Captain Americadisappeared during World War II, only to return to the modern-day. But what’s less known isthe U.S. government’s attempts to replace Steveafter he disappeared. There was Isaiah Bradley, a man who had been forced into testing a new super-soldier serum. There was also William Burnside, a man madly obsessed with replacing Steve Rogers.

What’s interesting is that, unlike these other super-soldiers, David doesn’t appear to have taken Captain America’s moniker, just the shield. It’s also unknown how the program he went through varied compared to Steve’s (though it seems to have had similar results). However, one does wonder what happened to Colton given this is the first Marvel fans have heard of him.

Why Was David Colton Lost to Super-Soldier History?

Did He Go Rogue or Did Something Worse Happen?

When retcons like this pop up, anything is possible. Maybe Colton was a sleeper agent, and he’s going to turn on his allies. Maybe heisas good a soldier as Steve, only he passed away tragically shortly after Captain America returned. There’s not much about this particular time, so really, anything could have happened to this forgotten super-soldier.

The only thing that’s known right now is the information that’s just made itself known in this issue. The Marvel Universe had another active super-soldier when Captain America returned. What’s happens next is anyone’s guess, but chances are this is going to have a huge impact as this new era forCaptain Americabegins.
