For most of the character’s history,Captain America’s shield has been one of the most unbreakable weapons in the Marvel Universe, however it’s far from the deadliest. Now, after a major upgrade,the spinning disc is more powerful than fans have ever seen it, with new blood-soaked capabilities.
InThe Avengers #25by Jed MacKay, Valerio Schiti, Federico Blee and Cory Petit, Sam Wilson is alone aboardthe Avengers' Impossible City basewhen the new Masters of Evil attack. Injured and doubting his capabilities, Sam gets a break when the Impossible City reveals it can use its remaining tech to fashion hima new armored costume that enhances him to superhuman levels.
With new wings and claws, Sam Wilson heads into battle against the villainous Madcap,decapitating the villain with a single throw of his shield. Not only that, but the weapon ends up embedded half in the Impossible City’s metal walls, showing that Sam is now dealing with even more strength than a Super-Soldier like Steve Rogers.

Captain America’s Armor Turns His Shield into a Deadly Weapon
InThe Avengers #25, Sam Wilson joins the Avengers in an assault on Doctor Doom. Sadly, he’s quickly injured, with Captain Marvel ordering him to return to the sentient fortress known as the Impossible City. While being treated by the Plastoids - artificial bodies into which the Impossible City can project its sentience -Sam admits that he’s terrified he can’t measure up to the rest of the team, asking if his shield and training areenough to make him an Avenger.
Thankfully, he doesn’t have to find out, as the Impossible City uses a Plastoid to create custom armor for Sam,combining its own robotic strength with his training and skill. Of course, it’s off-brand for Captain America to use his shield to decapitate an enemy, butMadcap’s incredibly powerful healing factormakes it equivalent to knocking the villain out. That still leaves Mr. Hyde, Dreadknight, Oubliette and the Mad Thinker to take down.
While Sam Wilson has all the skill of Steve Rogers' Captain America, he doesn’t have the Super-Soldier serum running through his veins. That means that - despite the ability to telepathically communicate with birds - Sam Wilson is still more vulnerable than the superhumans he fights alongside. Hopefully, Sam’s armor is here to stay, making him significantly stronger and more durable than ever before - after all, this is justoneof the Impossible City’s many Plastoid bodies. But either way,Captain Americanow has the perfect chance to prove himself by taking out the Masters of Evil before the Avengers get back from their battle.
