For the majority of part 2, one ofChainsaw Man’s biggest mysteries has been the identity of Denji’s imposter, and that mystery only deepened as chapter #204 teased that he was someone Denji knew.
The mystery of the fake Chainsaw Manhas been a big one, and chapter #205 has finally resolved it. Predictably, the fake Chainsaw Man wasn’t actually someone Denji knew, but that didn’t make him any less important, for as it turned out,the fake Chainsaw Man was the brother of the boy Denji let die in his fight with the Cockroach Devilback at the beginning of part 2. It’s an incredible twist, even byChainsaw Man’s standards, and it does wonders to emphasize just how much of a doppelganger the fake Chainsaw Man was.

What Makes The Fake Chainsaw Man Reveal So Good
The reveal of the fake Chainsaw Man’s identity is astronomical, and the main reason is how much it sells him as Denji’s opposite. In the lead-up to the reveal, the Fire Devil explained that the fake Chainsaw Man and his brother nursed them back to health when they were injured and inspired the Fire Devil to help people seek out justice; in other words,the fake Chainsaw Man’s relationship with the Fire Devil is a clear parallel to Denji’s relationship with Pochita, and that does a lot to sell him as Denji’s foil, if only retroactively.
All of this works to make the fake Chainsaw Man a surprisingly complex character. Up until now, the fake Chainsaw Man being Denji’s opposite only went as far as him being a white Chainsaw Man and having an over-the-top sense of justice, but now,the fake Chainsaw Man parallels Denji on a much clearer philosophical and fundamental level, adding plenty of depth to his character andChainsaw Man, as a whole. With the fake Chainsaw Man dead, there’s only so much more that can be done with that, but that doesn’t make it any less great to see.

Why Chainsaw Man’s Big Reveal Can Be Great For Denji
Above all else, the reason whyChainsaw Man’s big reveal is so important is because of what it could mean for Denji. Throughout part 2, a common criticism ofDenji’s characterhas been his seeming lack of morality and how nothing ever happens to challenge it, all of which has made him somewhat boring the longer the story goes on. Now, though,Chainsaw Manhas put Denji in a situation where he’s forced to deal with the consequences of his self-centered nature, and that could do a lot to spark some much-needed growth for his character.
Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait long to see what comes of that, if anything. The Fire Devil said that they want to test Denji by making him choose between options again, and while it’s unclear what that entails,Chainsaw Manchapter #206 is poised to force Denji into one of his biggest moral dilemmas to date. Considering howChainsaw Manhas been lately, it’s unclear what will come of it, but hopefully, this conflict with the Fire Devil and the fake Chainsaw Man will lead to nothing but great things for Denji and the story as a whole going forward.
