Boyd Holbrook has joined Omar Sy in the cast of Netflix’s newExtractionseries,Mercenary. Holbrook, previously seen inNarcos,DC’sThe Sandman, and Marvel’sLogan, has signed on to co-star with Sy in the limited series installment set inside theExtractionfranchise, based on the films starring Chris Hemsworth and Golshifteh Farahani.
Extraction, the action film series starring Chris Hemsworth, centers on Tyler Rake, a mercenary from the Australian Army who has been tasked to extract specific targets. The popular film franchise, slated to see its next installment potentially in 2026 with therelease ofExtraction 3, has now become a franchise property, expanding into streaming.
In a statement shared with Netflix, AGBO, the production company led by Joe and Anthony Russo, who are executive producers ofMercenary, said they are “grateful” to be collaborating with Netflix again on another series. Sy, the star of the series, becomes the second main character of the franchiseas a mercenary, Diallo, in Libyaworking to save hostages from two warring groups. This is also not the only spinoff in theExtractionuniverse, asIdris Elba’s character fromExtraction 2has the potential to have his own spinoff series set inside Hemsworth’s world.
