There’s no denying thatChrono Triggeris one of the most beloved RPGs of all-time. The Super Nintendo classic is a game that players often return to and talks of a port surfaced in 2017 whenthe game was missing from the list of titles on the SNES Classic. Apparently the community was correct that a new port was on the way, but it’s not exactly what anyone was expecting (or hoping for)…
In a surprise move, Square Enix released a port of the mobileChrono Triggeron the Steam store this morning. The new PC port is available for $14.99 and there is also a limited-edition version that is only available until April 2. Players who pick up this version of the game by April 2 get a bonus collection of music to download and some PC wallpapers.

This new port offers PC owners access to the updates that came along with the DS port a few years back, in addition to some other minor new features. The new features include:
The Nintendo DS version’s pair of bonus dungeons
Optimized graphics and sound
Keyboard and mouse support
Autosave
The mobile version ofChrono Triggerwas not very well received and it sounds like the PC port is falling into that same category. Twitter blew up with excited when the game appeared in the Steam store this morning, but that excitement quickly turned to anger when fans realized this was a port of the mobile version, rather than a new PC port.
It will take a few days for the Steam reviews to balance out, but it will be interesting to see if the hate for the port stays strong or if things balance out in the weeks to come.
