PEAK, a unique co-opindiegame, continues to set the gaming world ablaze this summer, as it has quietly surpassed publisher Aggro Crab’s previous works.PEAKis arguably one of the bestindie games of 2025, and after many summer sales and word-of-mouth, the game has sold over five million copies and was released to generally positive reviews.
According to data fromSteamDB,PEAKhas a record concurrent player count of 114,492 players on Steam last month, smashing Landfall and Aggro Crab’s previous company records that were held byAnother Crab’s Treasure. The game also, as of this writing, has over 33,000 players in the late morning on a weekday.

PEAK’s concurrent player count makes itone of the most played games of the year on Steam, and also one of the most played games currently, with it sitting at the number 48 spot, just ahead ofCall of Duty. It’s also one of the few non-PvP games to see such a high player count, standing alongside massive hits likeElden Ring,Cyberpunk 2077, and more.
PEAKis alsoperforming well among critics and fans, being one of thehighest-rated games of 2025thus far, and sitting at a “Very Positive” reception on Steam with 93 percent positive reviews. Praise is being aimed at its co-op mechanics, weather system, replayability, and general challenge.

Additionally, the entire genre of co-op games hasdominated Steam’s revenue this year, with over $4.1 billion, making it by far the most successful genre on the platform, in large part due toMonster Hunter Wilds,Schedule 1,Elden Ring Nightreign, and, of course,PEAK. Great co-op games were few and far between at one point, so it’s great to see the popular genre back in full force.
