EA Sports College Football 26has made big steps forward to improve its weakest mode from last year’s return to gaming, but it could be just a stepping stone to even better things next year.College Football 25was a huge success last year, with a lot of unique features compared to theMaddenseries, but despite the success of Dynasty, Road to Glory and Ultimate Team, the head-to-head online mode,Road to the college football playoffs, was somewhat of a let-down.
The other three main modes had a lot of replayability to them, and hours upon hours of content to get stuck into. However, the head-to-head online mode appeared to be a simple afterthought, thrown on to the game. All four ofthese modes are returning forCollege Football 26.The mode allows players to face off with real-life college teams, but the mode lacked any incentive to play, even limiting playbooks and available players. Thankfully, this has been rectified forCollege Football 26.

Ahead of its launch, theCollege Football 26deep diveconfirmed a lot of information and updates in regard to the head-to-head mode. The rewards and progression have been updated, with each season now lasting 12 matches like in real life. Each individual victory or loss helps determine which division you will be in next season or if you will make the playoffs. You will also have an advantage for home games, something never really seen in online matches within sports titles, but you will earn more points if you win on the road.
FIFAOnline Seasons mode used to be incredibly popular, but with the rise of Ultimate Team, the mode was left alone and now is a non-existent in the series.

In Dynasty Mode forCollege Football 26,new history and records have been addedand a similar section is now in place for the head-to-head online mode as well. It will keep a record of all of your seasons, provide detailed leaderboards, including for friends, as well as showing a place to store your trophies if you do make it all the way through the end-of-season playoffs.
More Needs To Be Added Next Year And Players Need To Get Involved
Despite the promising additions that EA Sports has made to the online head-to-head mode, it will be down to the fan base if it will be a success. For those wanting to play offline, Dynasty and Road To Glory will remain the main options, but many that want to play online are still likely to focus on the popular Ultimate Team. For Road to the college football playoffs to be a success, the players need to actively play it. One further change will see you receive more ranking points if you play for the lower-ranked colleges, giving you a reason not to just use thebest overall ranked teams inCollege Football 26.
The mode is built on the idea of simply being able to jump in quickly and play online matches to test yourself, but for the mode to grow there needs to be an increasing group of fans that want to play it. An easy-to-play online option that players can jump into without spending a whole year trying to keep up with others in Ultimate Team is a viable mode which will appeal to a large group ofCollege Football 26players. EA Sports have made some great strides to improve the head-to-head online mode inCollege Football 26, Road to the college football playoffs, but they will need to keep pushing it on next year.
