Famed video game designer Hideo Kojima has shared rave reviews of the 2024 moviesBetter ManandCaddo Lakewith his millions of social media followers. It certainly made an impression on Hideo Kojima, though, as the video game auteur was reduced to tears byBetter Man’s ending scene. He explained the special significance of this scene for him, by recounting the story of his own graduation from junior high on X:
“At my junior high graduation event way back, just like in the film, I sang “MY WAY” solo on stage in the auditorium – me for the first verse, [my classmate] Tatsuo for the second. Then the whole class joined in for the chorus. It brought back memories of my late father too. So many things came flooding back, and I couldn’t stop crying until the end credits were over.”
While Kojima found watchingBetter Manto be a particularly emotional experience, he describes Celine Held and Logan George’s thriller movieCaddo Lakeas “really intriguing”.He seems to have been especially taken by the way the film involves time travelin its plot, and suggested it should be released in his home country, Japan.
