In today’sX-Men: Age of Revelation #0- from Jed MacKay, Humberto Ramos, Victor Olazaba and Edgar Delgado - Marvel jumps ahead ten years in its timeline, with mutant hero Xorn explaining what happened during the timeskip. The comic shows Cyclops welcoming Doug Ramsey’s Revelation (the former Cypher) onto the team, alongside his wife Bei and alien friend Warlock.Cyclops values Revelation’s new powers, which allow him to reprogram the mind of anyone who hears him speak.
Cypher and Cyclops quickly clash over a plan to raid a SHIELD helicarrier and rescue Fabian Cortez - a villain who can supercharge mutant powers. Revelation used his powers to force Cyclops to lead the raid,resulting in the death of team member Magik and SHIELD’s Maria Hill. In response, Cyclops quits the team alongside fellow members Xorn and Juggernaut, leaving Revelation as the new leader of the X-Men.

Ten years later, Revelation is the god-emperor of the Revelation Territories, which Xorn calls,“A heaven ruled by a devil.“Major X-Men heroes like Quentin Quire and Psylocke now work as Revelation’s enforcers, whileCyclops leads a tiny band of rebel heroes including Magneto and Glob Herman. Cyclops plans to somehow use time travel to inform his younger self that Revelation can’t be trusted, averting this dark future where humans and mutants are engaged in a chaotic war.
Marvel’sAge of Revelationevent will continue this October, taking over the entireX-Menlineas heroes like Wolverine, Deadpool and Spider-Man are caught up in the time jump, and Scott Summers attempts to undo the mistake of allowing Revelation to replace him. However, for fans ofCyclops, there’s a small victory in the knowledge that as soon as he stopped beingX-Menteam leader, the world totally fell apart.
