Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Daredevil: Born Again season 1, episode 9.TheMCUintroduced a second Blip, this time created by Mayor Wilson Fisk inDaredevil: Born Againinstead of Thanos inAvengers: Infinity War.Daredevil: Born Againseason 1’s finaleends the first part of Matt Murdock’s first MCU series on a hopeless cliffhanger that places the odds in Wilson Fisk’s favor. At the same time, Fisk is clearly growing overconfident in his position, which leads him to make risky decisions such as reactivating his illegal businesses and murdering his rivals with his own hands.

There are several parallels between Wilson Fisk and Thanos. Both MCU villains profess improvement for society and present themselves as the leaders who can achieve it, but both are also aware that their ideals are only a facade for their ambition. When things don’t go their way, Fisk and Thanos take matters into their own hands and brutalize their enemies, discarding their discourse for the sake of revenge. As fate would have it,Thanos and Wilson Fisk are among the few Marvel villains who’ve claimed victory once the credits roll. Just like Thanos, Wilson Fisk’s victory probably won’t last long.

While Daredevil and the Punisher face Fisk’s forces, other heroes like Spider-Man, Kate Bishop, and the Defenders must be busy keeping things under control in their own corners of the city, fighting regular criminals and members of Mayor Fisk’s task force. Likewise, multiple heroes must have starred in several movies and shows' worth of battles in the five years between Thanos' Snap and Hulk’s Snap, but the MCU has yet to revisit those years.
