Destiny 2players are calling for the return of a fan-favorite map in the Gambit playlist, which was originally introduced in the critically acclaimedForsakenexpansion. Players within theDestiny 2community believe the return of this Gambit map may help revitalize the playlist by bringing in lapsed players that prioritize other in-game activities.

In Gambit,Destiny 2players compete in two teams of four against the forces of darkness and each other to collect motes. These motes must be deposited into the central Bank in order to activate the Invader portal and send Taken to the other team’s side. The Drifter will commentate the Gambit match as it happens, giving out pointers for where enemies may spawn next. Once a team’s bank is full in Gambit, the team must quickly defeat the summoned Primeval to achieve ultimate victory. Unfortunately, the Gambit playlist’s overall player base has dwindled in the subsequentDestiny 2expansions followingForsaken’s release, but players are hopeful that the return of a popular Gambit map may help bring others into the playlist.

In a recent post on Reddit,Destiny 2players are calling for the return of the Dreaming City Gambit map known as the Cathedral of Scars. The Cathedral of Scars map was introduced inForsakenand later removed from the playlist during the launch oftheBeyond Lightexpansion. Although theForsakenexpansion has been vaulted, the Dreaming City destination, Shattered Throne dungeon, and Last Wish raid remain active. As a result, players in theDestiny 2Reddit community are questioning the decision for the map’s removal while hoping Bungie would revitalize the Gambit playlist.

Currently,Destiny 2’sGambit playlisthas four maps in rotation: Emerald Coast, Legion’s Folly, Deep Six, and New Arcadia. Cathedral of Scars was vaulted alongside the Kell’s Grave Gambit map, which was removed due to negative fan reception leading into the launch ofBeyond Lightin 2020. Despite the recent launch of theLightfallexpansion, Gambit has yet to receive a new map since the release ofForsakenin 2018.

Gambit appears to be less of a priority as Bungie moves forward intothe next season ofDestiny 2. However, the recent Reddit post is a reminder that someDestiny 2players still enjoy the Gambit playlist and hope to see updates for it. The reintroduction of the Cathedral of Scars map may be a first step worth considering.

For now,Destiny 2players may continue to make their opinions known about the Gambit mode in a respectable manner asSeason of Defiance enters its midpoint. Season of the Deep is expected to launch near the end of May 2023, so players still have time to complete Season of Defiance’s story content and activities.

Destiny 2is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
