As ifDestiny 2wasn’t already dealing with a lot of negative feelings from its community, developer Bungie has confirmed that the new “The Lie” quest is bugged. After progressing past the shotgun kills portion of the quest, players will find themselves on the Moon in front of Eris, but this is apparently not how things are supposed to work. According to Bungie, anyone that spawns in front ofEris Morn on the Moonis in a “bugged state.” Presumably, “The Tyrant” mission is supposed to load and players will spawn at its beginning.
Bungie community manager DMG confirmed that the quest is bugged on Twitter, butDestiny 2players had their suspicions. As soon as theSeraph Tower portionof the quest was complete, players raced to complete the shotgun kills step and everyone ended up with this bug. Bungie is still trying to find out if there is anyone out there who is not experiencing the bug, but it sounds like it is a game-wide issue.
Moreover, any hope that Bungie might fix the bug quickly is squashed by the fact it is night time on the West Coast, where the team is based. DMG says that the development team will look at the issue in the morning and there will likely be a fix at some point Monday.
What this means is that Destiny 2 players will not be able tocomplete “The Lie” questand claim the Felwinter’s Lie shotgun. Back in Destiny 1, Felwinter’s Lie was one of the best shotguns in the game for PvP thanks to the Shot Package perk, and Crucible fans hoped that it would be similarly potent in D2. Unfortunately, any hopes of using the shotgun in Trials of Osiris before the weekend is over are dashed.
As with anyDestiny 2quest there were some who assumed that it was bugged from the start. Players loaded into a mission called “The Tyrant” but there was no quest marker or directive, not to mention missions load players into the start of the quest not the landing zone of the destination.
Still, the community tried a lot of different activities to see if anything could trigger the mission. Players searched every Lost Sector for interactive objects, completed the Seraph Tower event on the Moon, and even cleared theSeraph Bunker. All of it was for naught and eventually the feeling that the quest was bugged set in.
Presumably, Bungie was working to confirm that the quest was bugged for enough people to make an announcement. No one on Twitch had entered a non-bugged state, though, so DMG eventually made the announcement. It looks like the next steps will have to wait until Monday.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
