The Pact system inDiablo 4’s Season of Blood is directly connected to Vampiric Powers, and players that are interested in perfecting their builds will need to have a solid understanding of how it works. Fortunately, this seasonal mechanic is not extremely complicated, though it may appear to be upon first glance. For those players that may be feeling slightly overwhelmed by Pacts inDiablo 4, this guide is here to help.
Diablo 4: Pacts Explained
It is first important to understand that there arethree typesof Pacts inDiablo 4’s Season of Blood, and they are each represented by asymbol. More specifically, the Pact types areFerocity, Divinity, and Eternity, and they are depicted as aspiked helmet, chalice, and skull.

With that established, players should turn their attention toDiablo 4’s Vampiric Powers, which can be found under the Seasonal tab within a character’s inventory. As fans peruse those seasonal powers, they will obtain information about what they do, how they are unlocked, and theirActivation Costs. It is the last of those items that is relevant to this guide, and indeed fans will see the three aforementioned Pact symbols underneath each Vampiric Power’s Activation Cost.
Next to the Pact symbols, players will seenumbers, which indicate how many Pacts of the associated type are required to activate the power. For example, if a Vampiric Power had a one next to the skull, and zeros next to the other two symbols, then the player would need to obtain one Eternity Pact before they are able to equip that power.

Players may now have questions about how they can obtain the Pacts that they need to fulfill Vampirc Power Activation Costs, and the answer isPact Armor. Indeed, as fans earn gear duringDiablo 4’s second season, they will find that designated numbers of Pacts appear on much of it, and they simply need to equip those items to secure the Pacts that they grant.
To note, players canadjustthe Pacts on their armor withtwo types of items: Pact-granting items, which can be used to add specific Pacts to a piece of gear, and Pact-cleansing items, which can be used to remove them. These items can be obtained by engaging with many of the activities in the Season of Blood, and their existence means thatDiablo 4playersdo not need to worry about finding Pact Armor with perfect stats and perfect Pacts, as they can customize the Pacts as needed.
One final thing to mention is thatarmor pieces inDiablo 4have amaximum number of Pactsthat they can provide. This is indicated to the right of “Pacts Granted” on a piece of Pact Armor, and players will find that most items are capable of providing more Pacts than they have when they are initially obtained. This give fans the opportunity to use the aforementioned Pact-granting items to improve their Pact Armor, though those items can no longer be used once an armor piece reaches its maximum Pacts.
Diablo 4is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
