Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas no shortage of content to pull from for future updates, and so it’s only natural that things remain missing that may soon be added in future updates. That being said, however, I can’t help but notice one glaring omission fromDDV, and that’s Marvel.
WhileDDVhas taken baby steps withStar Warsby introducing some clothing, companions, and accessory items, Marvel is nowhere. Granted, this is likely because some players have expressed concerns over mixing classic Disney with Marvel, but perhaps there’s a solution for everyone that could still allowDDVto see success regarding Marvel’s inclusion.

An Avengers-Themed Starting Hub Is A No-Brainer
Creating A Major Expansion Surrounding Marvel Seems Like The Best Option For Everyone
Given how divided the opinions are onMarvel coming toDDV, it seems thatthe most logical solution would be to launch an expansion themed entirely around Marvel. While past expansions have generally featured characters from a variety of stories, a Marvel-based expansion could still offer players the same variety while sticking entirely to Marvel content.
Not to mention, the Marvel universe has already provided the perfect foundation for a collaborative expansion,The Avengers. SinceThe Avengersis already a collaborative team of characters from individual franchises, it would make the most sense to have this be the baseline of the expansion.

Of course, timelines would have to be somewhat thrown out the windowhere, as there would be no way to include everyone without various discrepancies in their source material, but that’s not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, since the same happens with original Disney content that’s added.
Overall, offering Marvel as expansion material for players who want to include it, while also not forcing every player to include it, seems like the best way to give everyone what they want. Although this would mean Marvel fans would have to pay for any content, ifDDVdid something they’ve never done before and offeredseveral additional free updates to that expansion to add more content, players may not be as put off by the initial cost, making it a win-win for everyone.

There Are Endless Marvel Characters To Add Via Updates
A Large Expansion With Multiple Future Updates Could Be The Best Option For Marvel Content
With each new expansion release, the expansions have then gone on to include one or two free updates to finish off their stories and introduce another character. With that being said, bothA Rift In TimeandThe Storybook Valeonly included five characters each, but there’s reason to believe thatDDVintends to do more with these expansions.
In the teaser duringThe Storybook Vale’s finale, which players anticipate is about the next expansion, we saw a horse silhouette that is presumed to be Maximus looking for Flynn Rider. Given that Flynn was fromThe Storybook Vale, this has several players speculating that instead of an all-new expansion,DDVmay not be done withThe Storybook Vale.
If this is the case, then it opens the door to several possibilities for Marvel. IfMarvel could receive a base expansion that could then be added to over the years with free updates, Marvel fans could continue to receive new content even though it’s not part of the base game. Plus, ifMarvel Rivalsis anything to go off of, there’s more than enough characters to work with.
Marvel characters have appeared in some of theDDVplayer interest surveysthat have been sent out regarding future expansions and updates, so whether we see the inclusion of Marvel or not, Gameloft appears to at least be considering the idea.
A singular expansion with a handful of the most popular heroes and villains simply wouldn’t be enough, for me included. I want to see Spider-Man, Miles Morales, Green Goblin, Doc Ock, and so many more from theSpider-Manuniverse, but there’s practically no way we would see more than just Spider-Man if only five total Marvel characters were added.
IfDisney Dreamlight Valleystarted withThe Avengersas the hub and included all the original Avengers as the initial launch, they could then branch out and offer updates for each of their respective franchises to include notable characters from them and continue expanding on that.
There’s nearly as much to do with Marvel content as there is to do with all of Disney’s classic content, soDisney Dreamlight Valleymight as well be throwing away money if it never bothers to explore the possibilities there, especially since so many players have voiced interest in the inclusion of Marvel.
