Daredevil: Born Againwill likely not end with its second installment, despite comments made by star Charlie Cox. While speaking at a convention, Cox described season 2 as “the final season.“Daredevil: Born Againseason 2will see the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen form an army to go up against Mayor Fisk and his tightening grip on New York City.

OnX, Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio responded to a fan question about whether Cox’s comments were true. D’Onofrio shared that “Good chance there will be a third” in terms of continuing beyond season 2. In the video clip of Cox, he is teasing the upcoming season without giving details away and said, “There’s something that we do in this final season that doesn’t exist in the comics.”

In an additional post onX, D’Onofrio offered further clarification. He believes that Cox accidentally used the wrong word and admits it was “a bit confusing.” D’Onofrio has discussed the future of the show with Cox, and they both believe there is “a very good chance” for season 3.

I believe Charlie meant the last season we actually shot meaning the second season. Yet he used the term final season so its a bit confusing. But Charlie and i have discussed and we both agree there’s a very good chance for a third season.

What This Means For The Future Of Daredevil: Born Again

There has been no official announcement from Disney about the future ofDaredevil: Born Againbeyond season 2. Cox’s comments could only mean two things: either he let it slip that the show would be ending, or he simply misspoke.

Given that Cox was speaking in front of a crowd and did not have prepared comments for the questions ahead of time, it was probably just a mistake. While his comments did cause alarm for some fans, D’Onofrio’s response should ease those concerns for now. A season 3 renewal will likely be determined by how the next installment is received critically and by viewership.

Daredevil: Born Againseason 3’s chances will greatly benefit from the anticipation around season 2.Daredevil building an army, which will include the return of Krysten Ritter's hard-drinking Jessica Jones, is something fans are excited about. If the audience shows up to see the upcoming fight and the reunion of two members of The Defenders, it should be reason enough for a renewal.

D’Onofrio’s comments should not be treated as a guarantee of season 3. It could be that the series was only designed to tell one complete story over two seasons. However, given how much of a successDaredevil: Born Againwas, it seems likely that the show will be renewed for a third outing. Season 1 has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 87% and an audience score of 80%.

The originalDaredevilseries ran on Netflixfor three seasons before being cancelled. Following its end in 2018, Marvel was unable to use the character for the next two years. After that period passed, the character also appeared inSpider-Man: No Way HomeandShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law. As the MCU keeps utilizing Daredevil in different ways, a third season ofDaredevil: Born Againfeels like it will be on the way.
