A new Major Order is underway inHelldivers 2, and Super Earth high command seems confident that they are nearing the end of the Illuminate invasion. The game’s third enemy faction emerged some months ago, but has remained largely stagnant since, invading planets nearly at random with far fewer enemy types than the Terminids' and Automatons' ranks boast.
The newHelldivers 2Major Order is officially underway in-game (also disseminated via theHelldiversDiscordserver), tasking players with completing 625,000 Operations against the Illuminate on Medium difficulty or higher, while simultaneously liberating the planet Turing from the Terminids. These objectives are “to enable the actualization of our final, permanent victory over the resurgent alien race,“the Illuminate. This is awfully reminiscent of when the Helldivers managed to remove the Automatons from the Galactic Map completely, only to have the bots swiftly return in greater numbers.

New Major Order In Helldivers 2 May Stop The Illuminate Invasion & The Meridian Singularity
The Repulsive Gravity Field Generator Is Almost Complete
The Meridian Singularity has been a long-standing plot point of the ongoing Second Galactic War inHelldivers 2. It was created after Super Earth collapsed a planet, Meridia, into a black hole to rid the galaxy of a Terminid Supercolony. It has since been co-opted as a weapon by the Illuminate, who have been steering it toward Super Earth through the still-mysterious use of Dark Energy. The Ministry of Truth seems to believe thathalting the wormhole will end the Illuminate invasion for good.
The second part of this Major Order is the continued threat of the Gloom, which envelopes multiple sectors of Terminid-controlled space. It has recentlygiven rise to the Predator Strain of Terminids, andthe Helldivers are ordered to cull this variant in order to harvest the E-710 that will power the Repulsive Gravity Field Generator and stop the Singularity’s advance. The Ministry of Truth is confident that “victory here will represent a cosmic confirmation of our citizenry’s industriousness, Freedom, and unassailable righteousness.”

More Illuminate Forces Are Definitely On The Way
Liberty Forgive Me For These Un-Democratic Thoughts
Helldivers 2has been steadily approaching a turning point in its Illuminate storyline. The faction is generally considered the most lackluster of the three, largely owing to its relatively few enemy variants. The Illuminate were long suspected to appear thanks to their role in the originalHelldivers, but haven’t evolved much since their introduction toHelldivers 2. Despite the unassailable reliability of the Ministry of Truth,I’m not convinced stopping the Meridian Singularity will defeat the Illuminate for good.
While the playerbase has been anticipating more Illuminate for a long while, afix for the game’s poor PC performanceis the most pressing update for many.

Roleplaying our victory over the squids if this Major Order is a success will be as delicious as a cup of Liber-tea, but the meta-game of keeping up withHelldivers 2is just as fun, and there’s no way developer Arrowhead Game Studios is going to cut the Illuminate out of the game for good;Helldivers 2is looking to stick around. There are plenty of Illuminate forces from the originalHelldiversthat haven’t made their way into the Second Galactic War, and this scuffle over the black hole definitely feels like it’s leading up to the main Illuminate invasion force coming toHelldivers 2fairly soon.
