AFriday the 13thspinoff series has been announced as being in development, and now, new behind-the-scenes photos reveal the show’s location, which has been frequently depicted throughout the slasher franchise. The series, titledCrystal Lake, is a prequel to theFriday the 13thmoviesand is being developed by A24 for Peacock. Brad Caleb Kane is serving as the series showrunner.
Not many details are currently known about the plot for the prequel series, but it seems the show will act as a Jason Voorhees origin story of sorts. Prolific actress Linda Cardellini will portray Pamela Voorhees, while child actor Callum Vinson will appear as slasher icon Jason. William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, Gwendolyn Sundstrom, Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch, and Phoenix Parnevik round out the rest of the cast.
In a post fromKane’s Instagram, he shared a photo of a sign that reads “Town of Crystal Lake, Established 1783.” Beyond the sign is a quaint town on a hill. This picture seems to have unveiled the location for Crystal Lake, even though, based on the title alone, there was already talk of the show taking place at the infamous camp in the small, dreamlike town.
In an Instagram story, Kane also revealed nighttime shots of the titular Crystal Lake with the captions “Night shoot. On the lake” and “Another Crystal clear night on the lake”. Check out the images below:
