At E3 2019, it was announced that fans would have the chance to try outGears of War 5early through multiplayer tech tests that would run throughout the summer. Now The Coalition has revealed more details about theGears 5multiplayer tech tests, including their start dates, what they include, and how players can get access.
The firstGears 5tech test will start on July 19 at 10am PT and run until July 22nd at 10am PT. Those interested will be able to pre-load theGears 5tech test beginning July 17 at 10am PT, though at only 15GB, it shouldn’t give players too much trouble. The secondGears 5tech test will run from July 26 at 10am PT until July 29 at 10am PT.
TheGears 5tech test will offer three different multiplayer modes for players to try across two maps. Players can jump into the standard Versus mode experience, called Arcade inGears 5, or they can battle it out in the traditional Escalation mode. The third game mode that will be available in theGears 5tech test is King of the Hill.
The Coalition has also teased other features thatGears 5players will be able to test out during the multiplayer tech test period. This includes the Bootcamp training mode, as well as something called “Tour of Duty.” According to The Coalition,Tour of Dutyis a feature that lets players complete “Medals” to unlock exclusive cosmetic items.
Something noticeably absent from theGears 5tech tests is thebrand new Escape Mode. Escape Mode was the main focus ofGears 5at E3 2019, so it’s a little surprising that it won’t be part of the first set ofGears 5tech tests. Luckily, withGears 5launching in early September, fans won’t have to wait much longer to see everything the game has to offer.
Gears 5will launch on September 10 for PC and Xbox One.
