Gen Vseems to feature its own version of a classicX-Mencharacter who could potentially become one of Homelander’s biggest rivals inThe Boysseason 5. Before audiences gear up forThe Boysseason 5, the franchise will build up to its final arc withGen Vseason 2, which will seemingly mark the return of both the young and older supes.

Even thoughGen Vseason 1 had more of a self-contained story that primarily revolved around the young supes from Godolkin University, season 2 will seemingly expand its vision by gradually merging its narrative with the franchise’s overarching storyline. Owing to this,Gen Vseason 2 will likely feature many story developments that will become primary narrative threads inThe Boysseason 5.

Cate (Maddie Phillips) in Gen V season 1, episode 3, looking sad

While many aspects of Gen V season 2’s story remain ambiguous, it seems like it will pave the way for one major character’s redemption. This character is, interestingly, the show’s take on an X-Men superhero and has the potential to give Homelander a run for his money in a showdown.

Gen V Season 2 Looks Like It’ll Redeem Cate

Cate Seems Well-Intended In Gen V Season 2’s Trailer Scenes

Cate embraced the dark side inGen Vseason 1’s endingmoments as she set out to harm the non-supe humans who tried to control and experiment on her and her friends. Impressed by her rebellion against human forces, Homelander recruited her onto his team. As a result, Cate became one of Homelander’s allies and even helped him towards theend ofThe Boysseason 4.

However, afterThe Boysseason 4, it looks likeGen Vseason 2 will pave the way for her redemption. Although most story details around How Gen V’s next chapter will unfold remain shrouded, butCate seems to be at a moral crossroads. Since the beginning, she has been more of a morally ambiguous character, similar to how Starlight used to be in the franchise’s opening arcs.

Even inGen Vseason 2’s trailer, Cate seems to be caught up in the same moral tug-of-war, which could eventually pave the way for her to redeem herself.

She understands that treading the same path as evil supes like Homelander will only lead to more destruction and suffering, and also struggles to overcome the desire to punish the non-supe humans who harmed her and her friends. Even inGen Vseason 2’s trailer, Cate seems to be caught up in the same moral tug-of-war, which could eventually pave the way for her to redeem herself.

Cate Would Be A Very Powerful Ally Against Homelander

With One Touch, Cate Could Overpower Homelander

Gen V’s main supe charactershave always seemed far stronger and mightier than Homelander’s Seven, despite being significantly younger. However, after having Sam and Cate on his team, Homelander retained his position of dominance. If Cate ends up switching sides again and joining the heroes,Homelander’s hold on power could significantly diminish.

InGen Vseason 1, it was also established that Cate can mind control some of the strongest supes with ease. All she has to do is touch the person she wishes to manipulate. Once she manages to do that, they become completely susceptible to her commands, regardless of how overpowered they are as supes.

Touching Homelander will not be easy, especially since he is well aware of her abilities. However,if Hughie and the team somehow manage to get her to touch Homelander, even the red-caped supe will not be able to do anything to resist her influence. Similar toX-Men’s Jean Grey, Cate could flip her narrative inGen Vseason 2 and use her powers for good rather than destruction.
