New leaks about Dahlia inGenshin Impact5.7 have emerged, and while it seems like the character is getting much-needed buffs to his gameplay kit, the enhancements may not be enough to save the playable unit from a disastrous release. Developer HoYoverse has already teased Dahlia as a new playable character in Version 5.7 via drip marketing posts, following his debut as an NPC in Version 5.6’s Archon Quest. While it is only known thatDahlia is a Hydro character from Mondstadt,Dahlia’s leaked kit inGenshin Impacthas revealed much more information about the upcoming unit.
According to these leaks, Dahlia is a 4-star Hydro character who wields a sword in combat. The rumors show thatDahlia’s main specialty is creating shields for his allies, which seemingly replenish themselves a few times after they have been destroyed thanks to a unique mechanic. Furthermore, the leaks also show that, aside from impeding incoming damage, Dahlia can buff teammates and works at his best in Freeze teams, which could make him viable in a team led by Skirk, provided that the leaks aboutSkirk’s dependence on Freeze inGenshin Impactare true.

Dahlia’s Buffs In Genshin Impact 5.7 Have Leaked
The Character’s Shields Will Get A Bit Stronger
After the initial leaks about his gameplay kit, new rumors about Dahlia and buffs to his abilities have emerged. According to information shared by an uncredited leaker – most likely HomDGCat, seeing the layout of the leak –Dahlia’s Elemental Burst is getting a few minor buffs in terms of stats. The leak was shared in a post tagged as “Reliable” onRedditand sustained by an update to the character’s entry onHoney Hunter World. As seen in the leak, the character’s shield’s DMG absorption inGenshin Impacthas been increased by 6.048% of his Max HP plus 711.88.
Previously, the leaks reported that the Shield of Sacred Favor’s DMG Absorption was 5.04% of his Max HP plus 593.23.

While the buffs are minor, statistically speaking, they could represent an increase in how much damage is actually absorbed by the shield. If Dahlia has 35,000 Max HP, before his leaked buffs, his shield would have a DMG absorption potential of 2357.23 incoming damage. Meanwhile,if Dahlia has that same amount of Max HP under the reported buffs, the shield can absorb 2828.68 DMG. Logically, the amount of DMG absorption increases the higher the character’s Max HP, if the leaks aboutDahlia’s Talents inGenshin Impactare accurate. Even with these buffs, however, Dahlia may struggle to become useful.
Dahlia’s Leaked Buffs For Genshin Impact 5.7 Can’t Save The Character
The Shield’s Low DMG Absorption Sets Him Back
The main issue with Dahlia, at this moment, is how frail his shield is. The character can replenish his shield immediately upon destruction with his leaked Favonian Favor mechanic, which sees him consume a stack of Benison to summon a new Shield of Sacred Favor when an existing Shield expires or is broken.Although this mechanic is useful, the amount of DMG absorption reported by the leaks is still significantly low. A boss or even a stronger Elite enemy in the overworld can easily crush Dahlia’s shield with a single attack inGenshin Impact.
Surely, the shield could replenish itself as soon as the first one is broken, but there is a chance that the attack’s original overflowing damage will pass before a new shield is created, thus making it ineffective in protecting allies. This is made even worse when considering how much investment is made to push Dahlia’s Max HP scores as high as possible at the expense of other stats. If players are looking at shields alone, they may find more protection by usingLayla inGenshin Impact, for example, because her shield’s DMG absorption is much higher.

Another possible downside to Dahlia’s kit is the ATK SPD buff he grants allies via his Burst, according to the leaks. Even though ATK SPD is a great buff to have, especially when applied to the correct DPS units who can take advantage of it. As of now, the leaks report that every 1,000 Max HP Dahlia has increases allies’ ATK SPD by 0.4%, up to a maximum of 15%. This ATK SPD buff is low and not at all satisfying. As such, not only does Dahlia seemingly fail as a shielder, but also as a bufferinGenshin Impact.
Rumors indicate that the ATK SPD buff has been buffed, increasing the buff up to a maximum of 20% rather than 15%, though that has yet to be verified by more sources.

For reference and comparison, Mika’s Skill increases his allies’ ATK SPD by 22%, which is already higher than Dahlia’s buff as seen in the original leaks and the newer ones.Even if Dahlia has been leaked to provide 20% ATK SPD, as reported, it is still below Mika’s 22% buff and locked behind a Burst usage rather than a Skill. When the character’s first leaks emerged, the concern was thatDahlia would repeat a pastGenshin Impactblunder, making him as bad as Mika, but it seems like he may be even worse than the 4-star Cryo character from Mondstadt.
How Dahlia Could Become More Useful In Genshin Impact
Dahlia Needs Larger Buffs
Although it seems like Dahlia’s gimmick is replenishing broken Shields of Sacred Favor with his rumored Benison stacks, the character and his team would only benefit from his protection if his shield were able to absorb more damage. If players fail to build up enough Benison, the boss could quickly eliminate the active character because the shield is too frail – and that becomes even worse when considering how stronger enemies are getting, both in boss challenges, such as thebosses inGenshin Impact5.6, and even the overworld enemies. A larger buff to his shields would make Dahlia usable.
In addition to that, Dahlia’s leaked ATK SPD buff has to be higher. If he can’t even compete with Mika, who is already considered one of the game’s worst supports, Dahlia won’t find a place in most of the game’s team comps. Even within Skirk’s F2P team, there are better options to employ rather than Dahlia, as he currently stands. If his ATK SPD buff reached 30% or higher, then the shield’s lower DMG absorption could be overlooked for the sake of damage output provided bySkirk inGenshin Impact(or any other Normal Attack DPS).

For now, these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt because, as reliable as they are due to the fact that they stem from ongoing beta tests, these stats are still highly subject to change leading up to the character’s release in Version 5.7. As such, there is still hope for Dahlia. Even so, I’d recommend not creating too many expectations about him getting significant buffs inGenshin Impact, and start thinking about alternatives for the character.
