Gran Turismo 7officially comes out early next year, and joinsHorizon Forbidden Westas a part of Sony’s first-party offerings for Q1 of 2022.GT7was originally supposed to launch in 2021, but was delayed as a result of the production challenges faced due to the ongoing pandemic.

Fans have had to wait to for many years for a new entry in theGran Turismoseries, asGT Sportreleased back in 2017.GT Sport also had a big focus on online gameplay, howeverGT7is confirmed to have a full campaign, as it brings back GT Simulation Mode from past games. Sony has just released a new trailer that details howGT7will make use of PS5’s power and tech.

The video features Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of developer Polyphony Digital, who talks about how PS5 has allowed the team to reach an intangible level of realism inGran Turismo 7. He first mentions that the adaptive triggers of the Dualsense controller are used to recreate the feel of the breaks. Though ray tracing is only available during replays and in Scapes mode, he makes note of the difference it makes inGT7,and reiterates that the game will be able to use PS5’ power to run at 4K with HDR while targeting 60 fps.

All of the footage shown from GT7 looks excellent, and it is great to see that more games are taking advantage of the unique features of the Dualsense controller. However,Gran Turismo 7has faced its fair share of controversies. Back when it was first announced, many fans believed thatGT7will a PS5 exclusive title, allowing it to make full use of the console’s power.Gran Turismo 7was later confirmed to be a cross-gen game, which naturally caused a lot of confusion.

In addition, it was announced thatthe campaign ofGT7will require a constant internet connection. Regardless of these concerns, it seems likeGT7has a lot of hype surrounding its release, and games in this series always sell exceptionally well.

2022 is shaping up to bea remarkable year for Sony’s exclusive line-up, from both first-party developers as well as third-party partners.Horizon Forbidden WestandGT7both have set release dates, whileGod of War Ragnarokis also scheduled to launch next year.Forspokenas well asGhostwire: Tokyoare console exclusives as of now, and when combined with notable multi-platform releases, PS5 owners should have plenty to look forward to in 2022.

Gran Turismo 7is scheduled to release on May 16, 2025 for PS4 and PS5.
