Grand Theft Auto 6is gearing up to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, entertainment launches in history, and a new prediction forecast about its potential revenue is changing the way a lot of fans, analysts, and developers are thinking about the highly-anticipated title. Earlier this year,GTA 6was delayed until May 2026, putting the game in the 2026 fiscal year for Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive. That choice might give the company one of the most profitable years ever in the history of the industry.

While there has barely been a peep about the game itself since theTrailer 2 reveal, that hasn’t stopped the entire industry from bracing itself for the massive impact it’s estimated to have on the industry and on entertainment as a whole. Even 10 months out from release, the game is set to rake in a ludicrous amount of money, if recent predictions hold true.

GTA 6 Will Make $7.6 Billion In 2 Months According To Firm

Another Record Could Be Looming For GTA

According to a LinkedIn post fromJosh Chapman, managing partner at investment firm Konvoy, the firm isestimating thatGTA 6will bring in $7.6 billionwithin 60 days of release. The game is estimated to have abudget of around $2 billion, making it the single most expensive entertainment product ever made, if true.

Take-Two Interactive has anearnings call scheduled for August 7, during which we may get more information aboutGTA 6or its internal sales projections.

Chapman and Konvoy are also estimating that the game will make back that $2 billion investment inless than a monthpost-release, predicting that 60 million copies of the game will be sold by that time. All of this data is assuming the game costs $80, and not the current standard of $70 (with a few exceptions so far, likeMario Kart Worldand theupcomingThe Outer Worlds 2costing $80already).

The game could also boast a higher price, as many representatives and analysts believethe game could cost up to $100. No price tag has been officially set yet.

GTA 5, which was released in 2013, shattered a lot of sales records, and it’s currently thesecond-best-selling game of all time, just behindMinecraft. The game was estimated to have brought in almost $10 billion worldwide after 215 million units were shipped, as revealed inTake-Two’s May 2025 financial report.

GTA 6 Is Primed To Be The Largest “Video Game Launch Of All Time”

And One Of The Biggest Entertainment Launches Ever, Too

According to Chapman and Konvoy,GTA 6will"be the greatest video game release of all time; shattering player, viewership, and revenue records.“The company is also predicting the game will break multiple records for copies sold as well as revenue during almost every period following its initial release. The game is unlikely to appear on Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus, or other similar services, so all of these estimations are for copies purchased at full retail price.

In addition to the base game ofGTA 6, there are alsosome predictions aboutGrand Theft Auto Onlineand how that could tie into potential revenue. Chapman and Konvoy are predicting the game will have 200-player lobbies, which would potentially allow for a more aggressive microtransaction approach.

There has not been an official confirmation ofGTA Onlinemaking its way toGTA 6, nor what its monetization systems could look like, though its inclusion seems likely, given how much revenue the service has generated for Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Stauss Zelnick calls past updates toGTA Onlinetheequivalent of standalone games, butwhether the online component will be included withGTA 6or sold as a separate game remains unknown. The full report seems to assumeGTA Onlinecomes withGTA 6’s assumed $80 price tag.

Konvoy’s full analysis suggests that ifGTA 6orGTA Onlineincludes seasonal content or battle passes, they could cost $10 to $15 each, which wouldcontribute to its revenue substantially. The prediction also puts an emphasis on User-Generated Content, such as mods, creating an ecosystem of additional cash flow and payouts to partnered creators.

GTA 6 Sales Prediction - Too Aggressive Or On The Money?

It’s Still Quite A Way Away

It’s easy to assume thatGTA 6will be one of the biggest game launches of all time, butsales predictions are often either too ambitious or too conservative. For example, earlier this year,Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s impressive sales numbersled to the physical version being out-of-stock at a lot of retailers, as the sales surpassed developer Sandfall Interactive’s projections.

ForGTA 6, specifically, fans and marketing professionals seem split as to the forecast’s potential accuracy. Some people feel this estimation is far too liberal, withRowland Coxwriting,“I think this is a tad aggressive. It took GTA 5 four years to reach 85 million units sold. This happened with multiple console releases as well, meaning folks bought it multiple times.”

Others arenot completely convinced of this specific prediction, although there’s a general consensus that the game will perform well.Colan Neesewrites,“while the number might be off.. I do think we are under selling amount of additional revenue sources that are likely to be built into this game day one,“The mystery status ofGTA Onlineand its additional money-making sources is cause for some thought-provoking pause.

GTA 6is still surrounded by unknowns, as the details of both the game’s contents and its potential effect on the industry remain vague. All of these predictions are just that: predictions. Whila lot of data and research goes into making an estimation of this magnitude, it’s impossible to concretely predict sales numbers, especially with pre-orders not available at the moment. Still,Grand Theft Auto 6is likely going to be the talk of the industry for a long time, now and after it releases.
