Helluva Bossstar Richard Horvitz explains how he “always knew” the show would end up on Prime Video after beginning on YouTube. Earlier this year, it was confirmedHelluva Bossseason 3will premiere on Prime Video, the same streaming home as its parent series,Hazbin Hotel. The show’s first two seasons were exclusive to YouTube prior to this announcement.

At theHelluva BossFan Expo Chicago panel, hosted byScreenRant’s Joe Deckelmeier,Horvitz, who voices Moxxie, explained how he always suspected the show would move to Prime Video. This was because of how popular the series had gotten on YouTube, citing cosplay at conventions as what convinced him of the series' looming success. Check out what Horvitz said below:

I’ve never done a YouTube show, but when I saw the script and I met Vivienne [Medrano] I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna hitch my wagon to this.’ And then when I saw at conventions I had been doing, I started to see cosplay for Hazbin [Hotel] before Hazbin even came out, only the pilot, the original pilot, had come out. And I started to see Helluva Boss cosplay. And I’m like, ‘Wow, this could be big.’ And I said, okay, but I always knew that when we started on YouTube that our show, Helluva Boss would would be on Prime once Hazbin had got on, I knew that we would be on there, and I’d said that to Bryce [Pinkham] early on, that I’m sure we’ll be with Amazon soon.

What Horvitz’s Statement Says About Helluva Boss' Prime Video Move

Helluva Boss' original episodeswere released on YouTube whenever they were ready, often with multiple months going by before a new adventure for IMP came out. Despite originally being a spinoff ofHazbin Hotel, the show has taken on a life of its own, with a story in the same setting independent of the original series.

Given Horvitz’s statement, it seems like the show’s move to Prime Video was inevitable. Not only does it put the series on an official streaming service, but it also means future seasons can have crossovers withHazbin Hotel. Whether this happens in the upcomingHelluva Bossseason 3 is unclear, but their universes can now collide much more easily.

The series' YouTube success sounds like it’ll grow now that it’s on Prime Video. A special episode,“Mission Zero,” that acts as a new jumping-off point will be released on Jul 12, 2025. As for season 3, it remains unclear when it will come out, though creator Vivienne Medrano hopes to release episodes in closer proximity to each other.

Episodes ofHelluva Bosswill still be released on YouTube one month after their Prime Video premiere dates.

Our Take On Helluva Boss' New Home On Prime Video

With the show’s move to Prime Video solidified, the series has a chance to grow further beyond its YouTube beginningswhile still maintaining a presence on the platform. Horvitz’s statement emphasizes how he foresaw the show becoming successful enough to get there, clearly having as big an impact on indie animation asHazbin Hoteldid.

The show can also get away with more on Prime Video than it can on YouTube, aiding in raunchier jokes and storylines that have been a cornerstone of the franchise. With seasons 3 and 4 already planned out,Helluva Bosshas the opportunity to repeat its success on Prime Video, both independently and in tandem with its parent show.

The next episode ofHelluva Boss, “Mission Zero,” will arrive Wednesday, September 10 on Prime Video.
