It has officially been a full year sinceHorizon: Zero Dawnlaunched, and it has definitely been busy for the game’s developer Guerrilla Games. Needless to say, a lot has happened for the game since its positive launch, such as an explosion of fan artists, cosplayers, and Photo Mode experts, patches,The Frozen WildsDLC,the Complete Edition, and several awards and honors. But the latest news concerning the highly-acclaimed action role-playing game reveals that it has sold 7.6 million copies worldwide.

This accomplishment forHorizon: Zero Dawnmeans that it is the best-selling new first-party franchise launch on PlayStation 4 to date. Concerning the achievement, Guerrilla’s co-founder and managing director Hermen Hulst stated:

“We had huge ambition forHorizon: Zero Dawnand as we approach the launch we knew people were excited, but to see sales of this volume is truly mind-blowing. Since launch, millions of players have joined Aloy on a quest to discover the secrets of the old ones. We hope they enjoy playingHorizon: Zero Dawnas much as we enjoyed making it.”

To celebrate the game’s first birthday, Guerrilla Games has a lot planned for the upcoming week. First of all, however, the developer thanked its many fans for their dedication with a a freeHorizon: Zero DawnPS4 avatar bundle and Photo Mode theme that will be made available tomorrow.

The studio has also released an “Inventing Instruments forHorizon: Zero Dawn” video, where music supervisor Lucas van Tol provides a behind-the-scenes look at the game’sscore. For fans ofMonster Hunter World, it is also noteworthy that theHorizon: Zero DawnPalico quest will returnat some unspecified date, which coincides nicely with the celebration of its anniversary.
