During the first couple of days of the cruise,Amy was described by her family as happy and engagedin each activity; before departure, she took several photographs as part of a competition she hoped to participate in. On March 23, Amy had professional photographs taken, where she joked with the photographer who mistook her brother for her partner.
In episode one of the miniseries, Amy’s brother, Brad, recalls how, during dinner, the wait staff were"notably attentive"towards his sister and flirting with her. Later that evening, the siblings attended a pool party on the ninth deck, where Amy was seen dancing with a man named Alistair Douglas, who served as a member of the ship’s band.
Between 3:35 and 3:40 am on March 24, Amy and her brother returned to their cabin, with Amy going to sleep on the balcony. At around 5.30 am,Ron Bradley saw his daughter asleepbefore returning to bed for half an hour and waking up to discover that she had vanished.
It wasn’t until 7:50am that the staff ofRhapsody of the Seaspublicly announced Amy Bradley was missing.
After searching the corridors, Amy’s family reported her disappearance to the crew, but it wasn’t until 7:50 am that the staff ofRhapsody of the Seaspublicly announced Amy Bradley was missing, when most of the passengers had already disembarked the ship.A full search conducted by the crew also failed to find Amy, leading to her being reported missing to authorities.
There Have Been Several Reported Sightings Of Amy Bradley Over The Years – Are They Accurate?
As shown throughoutAmy Bradley Is Missing,there have been several potential sightings of Amy that were investigated in the years following her disappearance. Amy’s father, Ronald, stated that during the initial investigation, he tried to protect his daughter’s reputation but felt that"[he] didn’t do enough".
In episode 2, one witness named David Carmichael revealed that a young woman approached him on a Curaçao beach in August 1998 but was led away by two men before she could speak. Carmichael described the woman as “tanned"and"a smoker"and believed that it was Amy Bradley due to a tattoo on the woman’s shoulder blade (viaRichmond-TimesDispatch).
Another potential sighting of Amy took place in 1999in a Curaçao brothel. The witness was Navy petty officer Bill Hefner, who stated that the woman told him “she got off that ship ‘cause she was going to score drugs.“Hefner didn’t report the sighting until 2002 to protect his military career (viaTIME).
In the Netflix docuseries, the Bradley family revealed that in 2005, they received several photographs of a woman named “Jas” from an adult website who bore a striking resemblance to Amy. Her mother, Iva, stated that seeing the photos"was a terrible thing"and the resemblance"took [her] breath away.“An FBI analysis of the photo concluded that the woman was potentially Amy, but the IP address could not be located (viaThe Tab).
Amy Lynn Bradley was declared legally dead in March 2010, but remains on the FBI’s Missing Persons list. There is currently a reward of $25,000 for information on her whereabouts.
