Elijah Wood reacts to Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) and Walter’s scene inYellowjacketsseason 3, explaining how it took him back to filming his 2017 dark comedy. Introduced in season 2, Wood’s Walter Tattersall is a recurring character in the present timeline who developed an interest in Misty. Season 3 sees the two competing with each other while trying to solve the mystery of Lottie’s death, which leads to Walter following Shauna temporarily.

While sitting down withVanity Fair, Wood reacted to his first scene with Lynskey inYellowjackets, where Shauna confronts Walter for following her. TheLord of the Ringsactor shared that what made the scene particularly fun to film was thatit explored a similar dynamic inI Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore, where he and Lynskey teamed up to solve a mystery together. Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) looking worried as she sees her daughter’s empty closet in Yellowjackets Season 3 Ep 10

This scene is really fun for a couple of reasons. Melanie Lynskey is a dear friend. I adore her. I’ve been a fan of hers for a super long time. We have gotten to work together a couple of times, three times now. Initially on Over the Garden Wall, and then in a movie called I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore, and the fun thing about that film is it, it involves my character and her character sort of teaming up to sort of be detectives to solve a problem that she has.

The fun thing about this scene is that it sort of brings us back to the dynamics of those characters a little bit, like tasting a little of the fun that we had on that film with slightly similar dynamics, which was really cool to play out again.

What This Means For Walter And Shauna In Yellowjackets

Walter And Shauna Have A Lot Of Potential As A Team

Starring both Wood and Lynskey, the 2017 dark comedy,I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore, follows a depressed woman who finds a new life purpose by hunting the thieves who broke into her home with her obnoxious neighbor. While the movie is regarded asan underrated gem in Wood’s catalog, it also hasone of Lynskey’s best performances.

InYellowjacketsseason 3, Shauna was Walter’s primary suspect before new information came to light. Shauna, who was going through a lot in life, wasn’t exactly thrilled about Walter’s investigation into her. Walter, on the other hand, didn’t like Shauna for how she treated Misty as a friend. However, despite their mutual hatred towards each other, they were on the same teamin finding out who killed Lottie, forcing them to work with each other.

Walter And Shauna Deserve More Screen Time Together

Walter and Misty’s duo dynamics are a highlight in the present timeline, and part of this is because of how much the series has invested in setting them up as potential love interests for each other. Shauna and Walter’s dynamics are often overlooked because there are very few scenes with the two of them together. It seems that Shauna and Walter’s chemistry is less intentionalin season 3, butit ends up being something worth exploring.

It’s unclear whether viewers will get more Walter and Shauna inYellowjacketsseason 4, but for those wondering what it would be like forthe two of them to play detectives togetherand go on a journey to catch criminals,I Don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymoreis a wonderful choice to fill the gap between seasons, and it’s available on Netflix.
