Hayden Christensen’s comments during theAhsokaseason 2 panel atStar Wars Celebration2025 have me more convinced than ever that we will see more live-action Clone Wars-era flashbacks in the upcoming season of the show.Ahsokaseason 2is one of the most highly anticipated projects amongStar Wars’upcoming TV shows, and that meant all eyes were on theAhsokapanel during yesterday’s Star Wars Celebration events. That panel certainly ended up delivering, with several majorStar Wars Celebration revealstaking place during that event alone.
Among those reveals was the news thatHayden Christensen will be returning inAhsokaseason 2, reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker once again. That alone would be thrilling enough, but Christensen’s comments also indicated we may be getting a repeat ofAhsokaepisode 5’sbrilliant story. That is,some of Christensen’s comments at Star Wars Celebration 2025 suggest brand-new Clone Wars-era flashbacks are coming inAhsokaseason 2.

Hayden Christensen Really Loves The Idea Of Playing Clone Wars Anakin
Christensen Spoke About How Much Those Scenes Meant To Him
During theAhsokapanel at Star Wars Celebration 2025,Hayden Christensen spoke about the incredible experience of donning Anakin’s Clone Wars-era armor. PerScreenRant’sown Molly Brizzell, who is on the ground at Star Wars Celebration this weekend, Christensen said:
“It was a dream to get to do. First, just to get to work with these incredible people was a real thrill. But just the way that they conceived of doing it, I thought was just brilliant. Getting to explore the World Between Worlds and then have Anakin sort of take Ahsoka down the Yellow Brick Road of her memories during the Clone Wars, I just thought it was really exciting.”

Christensen later added:
“It was too much fun. I just think it’s a very compelling period in Anakin’s life that we never really got to see in live-action. And I remember when we were going to do episode three, having conversations with George Lucas about what Anakin was up to in between two and three, and he was talking to me about the Clone Wars and how he was this great warrior and a leader, and I was like, ‘That sounds really cool, George!’ And then just how well it was presented in the animated world. I was just really excited to get to do that in live-action. You know, as much as I love the traditional Jedi robes that we kind of exclusively wore during the prequels, it was nice to see Anakin with a new look.”
It’s clear, based on these comments, thatChristensen was thrilled to get to portray Anakin in this era, due to everything from Anakin’s armor during this period intheStar Warstimelineto the story that develops between Ahsoka and Anakin.
The question nevertheless remains: Do these comments simply reflect Christensen’s adoration of the character and this era ofStar Wars, or was there something more to this conversation? It can be difficult to tell with Christensen, because he is so consistently enthusiastic about any role he gets to play inStar Wars. However, the emphasis on the Clone Wars flashbacks and Christensen’s description of how incredible it was to play Anakin during this timehave me convinced we are getting more live-action Clone Wars inAhsokaseason 2.
It Just Feels Like A Wasted Opportunity To Not Do More With This Story
While there hasn’t been confirmation of Clone Wars-era flashbacks inAhsokaseason 2, and it may not be until the show eventually releases that we know one way or another,it would feel like a massive missed opportunity to not show more live-action Clone Wars in the upcoming season of the show. Not only is Hayden Christensen clearly enthusiastic about portraying Anakin in this era, but also, Dave Filoni, Hayden Christensen, and Rosario Dawson all agreed during this panel that Ariana Greenblatt was brilliant as young Ahsoka.
There’s limited time for Greenblatt to play Ahsoka during this period, soStar Warsshould really take advantage while that’s possible. It would also feel a bit overdone at this point for this era to be explored in another show, particularly if Ahsoka and Anakin were the focus, so now is truly the time forStar Warsto revisit this time in live-action. Although Hayden Christensen was far from confirming more Clone Wars-era flashbacks inAhsokaseason 2 at Star Wars Celebration 2025, I’m fully convinced they are coming.
