What This Means For Invincible

Goggins says it best in the renewal video when callingInvincible"a success"for its season 5 renewal. Many shows in the streaming era are prematurely cancelled and do not make it past a season or two. Meanwhile,Invinciblehas already renewed and recorded season 5, with Prime Video fully invested in the show’s long-term future.

Such a commitment bodes well for the seriesgetting as many seasons as needed to adapt Kirkman’s source material.Invincibleseasons 1-3have included a great deal of setup that has yet to be paid off, but all these storylines can be seen through to their proper conclusion at least until season 5, and likely far beyond as well.

This update also indicates thatthere will not be another years-long hiatus between seasons, as season 5 post-production work will begin before season 4 is even released. If this trajectory continues, a potential season 6 could be recorded before season 5, and the series will never again have the kind of delay that occurred between seasons 1 and 2.

Getting renewed for season 5 would have been exciting on its own, but knowing that theInvinciblecasthas already finished recording makes this update even better. I’m thrilled to know that there will be at least two more seasons and that the show is working so far in advance.

This ensures that there will no longer be a painfully long wait between seasons, but the show also will not lose its quality, and there will be less pressure surrounding each ensuing season.Invincibleis the rare show in the streaming era that is renewed for multiple seasonsand does not need to worry about a premature cancellation.
