A Reddit user shared a mind-blowingStardew Valleyclip where they experienced an extremely rare inconvenience. Even though it may have had the same chance of happening as someone winning a billion-dollar lottery, the result was far from it. Unless they happened to be in desperate need of black dye, luck truly wasn’t on their side.
Reddit UserVegetable_Line9078looked through some of their oldStardew Valleyreplays and stumbled across this baffling moment. When processing some magma geodes, they obtained six pieces of the same mineral in a row. Even though this may not seem like a particularly big coincidence on the surface, when you consider the numbers, this made them one of the most unfortunate players of all time.

The Chance Of Obtaining Six Consecutive Neptunites From Magma Geodes Is Abysmally Low
It’s Unlikely That You’ll Get Any Six Minerals In A Row, But Neptunite Is Just Disappointing
When you open geodes, you’ll usually obtain basic resourceslike stone, clay, coal, or ores. Omni Geodes and Magma Geodes are of particular interest as they have a 5% chance ofdropping Iridium ore, which will allow you to upgrade your tools to their highest capacity.

Each geode type also hasvarious possible mineralsthat can be acquired from them, and there’s a one in 26 chance of receiving one of these from a Magma Geode. Though earning a specific type of mineral doesn’t make you any more or less likely to receive it again from the next geode, it’s still surprising to see a few of them in a row, let alone six. This poor player ended up with six Neptunites.
Minerals That Can Be Obtained From Magma Geodes:
Of course, the same statistics could be applied to any geode mineral. However,Neptunite is rarely needed by players, has a mediocre selling price, and generally isn’t a very useful material. The possibility of getting a geode mineral at all is already pretty low, but six of the same one is downright unlucky, especially if it’s Neptunite.
Even Though This Was Likely A Glitch, Processing Geodes Can Still Be Frustrating
It’s Not Impossible That It Happened Organically, But There Was A Known Bug In The Past
Though this was an incredible moment, the most likely explanation for this happening was due to a bug.Despite the clip being recently uploaded, at the time it was recorded, there was a known glitch with Magma Geode randomization on Switch. Spendinghours in the mines just to loseyour geode rewards to a malfunction is certainly discouraging.
Either way, it’s still fun to think that this Reddit user somehow defied near-impossible odds.Even though the chance of something like this happening is minuscule, it’s not completely unfeasible.
With such a massive player base, it’s only natural for strange anomalies to pop up from time to time. Since 2020,Stardew Valleyhas consistently averaged between 10,000 and 60,000 monthly players according toSteam Charts, so even the rarest in-game occurrences are rarely experienced alone.
