Jensen Ackles provides a new filming update onVoughtRising. The new show is a prequel series toThe Boys,taking place in the 1950s. Ackles will reprise his role as Soldier Boy, who has appeared in bothThe BoysandGen Vto date. TheupcomingVought Risingwill focus on the early days of Vought International, decades beforeThe Boystakes place.
Now, in an interview onLIVE with Kelly and Mark,Ackels reveals thatVought Risingwill begin filming next month. Ackles notes that he finished filming onThe Boys “a little earlier” than some of the other cast. When asked ifVought Risingwould be"just as demented"as the parent series, Ackles responds with “of course.”
There’s another show, which I start next month, which is Vought Rising, a spinoff of The Boys.

The Show Can Expand On Soldier Boy
AsThe Boysseason 5will bring the main series to an end, it’s exciting news to see a production update forVought Rising.Ackles first appeared as Soldier Boy in season 3where he was revealed to be Homelander’s father.
While Soldier Boy was thought to be a classic hero in the vein of Superman or Captain America, he turned out to be just as violent and antagonistic as most of the characters in the show.He is brought down by a combination of Homelander and The Boys, but will return again in season 5.
Although his fate inThe Boysis unknown, the character has plenty of backstory that can be filled in withVought Rising.
Alongside Ackler as Soldier Boy,Stormfront (Aya Cash) will also return in the prequel. Given how dark both Soldier Boy and Stormfront are inThe Boys,Vought Risingwill have the opportunity to expand on their backstories.

Even thoughThe Boyslargely acts as a satire for comic book movies, shows, and cinematic universes, it is continuing to grow. Ackles has a long history of significant TV roles, most notably as Dean Winchester onSupernaturalfor 15 seasons. Coming off ofThe Boys, and with his own dedicated fan-base,Vought Risingwill likely be another hit for the actor.
Vought Risingwill be a great way to keepThe BoysTV universe going. WithThe Boysseason 5 andGen Vseason 2 on the horizon, it’s good to see a new production update. AsVought Risinghaving multiple characters that can go back decades, it will hopefully be a worthy successor to the beloved violent and subversive show.
