A set video from the Punisher’sDaredevil: Born AgainspinoffMCUshow has revealed Jon Bernthal dressed in a comics-accurate Punisher costume. The images have emerged more than three months afterBernthal’s Punisher was last seenescaping captivity in Kingpin’s makeshift prison inDaredevil: Born Again, directly setting up hisPunisherspinoff Special Presentation.
Bernthal will appear inthe MCU’s next Special Presentation, of which there are only two so far:Werewolf By NightandTheGuardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Bernthal himself has co-written the as-yet-untitled Punisher Special Presentation, which will capitalize on his celebrated reappearance inDaredevil: Born Againwhen it releases in 2026.

Production seems to be well underway, as Jon Bernthal has been spotted while filming for the Special Presentation in some behind-the-scenes images posted toReddit. It certainly looks as if the Special Presentation will be action-packed, given the activities he is engaging in, which can be seen below:
In one video posted byu/johnbbb34, he can be seen sporting a comics-accurate trench coat over his iconic skull-emblazoned shirt.
In another post byu/wholefoods2222222222, he drops from a tall brick building through the top level of some wooden scaffolding.
In a third image from the same user, Bernthal wears casual clothes, including a green hoodie and plain dark jeans, and sports a thick beard.
What The Punisher Spinoff Set Videos Reveal
The Punisher Could Be Completely Unfettered
Responses to the images posted to Reddit point out howJon Bernthal’s Punisher will probably lean into his typical comics-accurate MO in the upcoming Special Presentation. The fact that he seems to point and fire a gun through a car window in one shot suggests that he will be mercilessly hunting criminals in broad daylight.
Without any further details about the plot of the Punisher Special Presentation, these images provide some further insight.
Fans have also pointed out thathis disheveled look, with a thick beard and scruffy clothes, points to a single-minded mission that spares no time for grooming. Presumably, this involves spending every waking hour hunting his victims on a rampage that could span the entire runtime of the Special Presentation.
If that is the case, thenthis will possibly beMarvel Studios' most action-packedSpecial Presentation to date. It is also in line with what Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, revealed about the story in an interview withEntertainment Weekly, where he revealed:
“It’s like a shotgun blast of a story, but also has all the pathos and emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story. It’s so exciting.”
Without any further details about the plot of the Punisher Special Presentation, these images provide some further insight. Between the violence and the costume,it seems clear that it may deliver one of the most comics-accurate adaptations of the Punisher to date.
Our Take On The Punisher Spinoff Set Videos
I Am Even More Excited For The Punisher’s Return
Comic accuracy seems to be the order of the day in the MCU right now, and I am on board with it. While Bernthal’s Punisher has always been aparticularly comics-accurate MCU character,I can’t wait to see him don what might be his most ostentatious outfit to date to let loose on street-level criminals.
BeforeDaredevil: Born Again, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher last appeared in his self-titled series in January 2019.
It has also stoked my excitement about the Punisher’s upcoming arrivalin the next MCU movie,Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which was confirmed in June. If the Punisher Special Presentation depicts the character at his most violent, building on his rampage inDaredevil: Born Again, this should make his interactions with the more peaceable wall-crawler even more compelling.
