Jurassic World Rebirthhas continued to climb up a major chart for the franchise. The movie is the sixth sequel to Steven Spielberg’s 1993 blockbusterJurassic Park. The standalone story stars Mahershala Ali, Scarlett Johansson, and Jonathan Bailey as members of a team who are sent to extract dinosaur DNA on an island full of mutant genetic experiments.
TheJurassic World Rebirthreleasekicked off on the Wednesday of Fourth of July weekend, taking No. 1 at the domestic box office with a 3-day domestic debut weekend of $92 millionand a 5-day holiday debut of $147.8 million.

PerDeadline, as of Saturday morning,Jurassic World Rebirthis projected to earn a 3-day domestic total of $38.7 million by the end of its sophomore weekend. This willbring its cumulative domestic box office gross to $230.8 million.
In addition to seeing it become only the fifth movie of 2025 to pass the $230 million domestic milestone, this total means thatRebirthwill outgross the domestic total of 1997’sThe Lost World: Jurassic Park($229 million) to become the fifth highest-grossing movie of the franchise in North America by the end of its 12th day in theaters.

What This Means For Jurassic World Rebirth
It May Not Climb Higher Up The Chart
BecauseRebirthis the seventh installment of a franchise that has a number of hit blockbusters to its name, it will become increasingly difficult for it to climb up the domestic chart forJurassic Park. In fact, if it hopes to climb just one more slot,it will have to earn an additional $146 millionto outgrossJurassic World Dominion’s $145.1 million.

Ultimately,Rebirthdoesn’t seem likely to outperformDominionat the domestic box office. It hadthe lowest domestic debut of theJurassic Worldsubfranchise, falling belowDominionby more than $50 million. It would have to have an outstanding audience hold in order to eventually climb past the 2022 movie’s all-time domestic gross.
However, that has not proven to be the case so far.Rebirth’s projected sophomore weekend gross sees it dropping 58% from its debut weekend, which almost exactly matches the 59.2% drop thatDominionitself experienced. This puts both movies on a similar trajectory, so the new installmentwill likely not gross more than $250 million in North America.
Our Take On The Jurassic World Rebirth Box Office
The Movie Is Still Performing Well
Even if the new movie remains the third lowest-grossing installment, this does not necessarily mean that it will be a commercial failure. The reportedbudget ofJurassic World Rebirthis only $180 million, which makes itone of the cheaperWorldmovies, which have reported budgets that range between $170 and $215 million.
Because the franchise is littered with billion-dollar hits, there is plenty of room forJurassic World Rebirthto turn a solid profit against its budget with its worldwide gross without surpassing the box office of the previous installments.
