After a lengthy wait, Amazon Prime Video’sLeverage: Redemptiondid return for a third season, but will it be renewed for season 4? Spun off from the TNT drama of the same name,Redemptioncatches up with the surviving members of the original team as they use their particular set of skills to fill in the gaps where the law fails. Serving up their own brand of justice, theLeveragecrew set their sights on the wealthy criminals of the world who need to be cut down to size.
Originally debuting on Amazon’s Freevee in 2021, the spinoff proved to be a smash-hit for the free streamer. A second season followed close behind, and a third was ordered as well. Unfortunately, real-world delays kept season 3 off the small screen for over two years, andthe show jumped to Amazon Prime Videoin the interim. Season 3 finds the team taking on a corrupt mayor, extortion, and even illegal child labor, and proves the concept is just as fresh now as it was in 2008. Though it isn’t confirmed yet,Leverage: Redemptionseason 4 seems like a foregone conclusion.

A Cautious Update On Season 4 From Dean Devlin
With the long-awaited return of the series in April 2025, the latest news comes asa cautious update onLeverage: Redemptionseason 4from Dean Devlin. The legendary showrunner spoke candidly about the chances of another season for the spinoff, andhe pinned his hopes on the success or failure of season 3. “There’s all kinds of things that have to get considered that we didn’t have to deal with before,” said Devlin, commenting on the changing TV landscape. According to Devlin, streaming has completely changed the paradigm, making it tough to know what will hit and what will miss.
As is usually the case,Devlin mentioned viewership numbers as the deciding factor, saying, “If we hit the right targets, I think we will get a fourth season.” Jokingly, Devlin also said that he’d be willing to takeLeverageelsewhere if the show got canceled by Amazon Prime Video, though it’s unclear if that’s feasible anymore.

It’s no longer just, “Is a show good? Do people like the show?” It’s, “Is it driving subscription rates? Are new people coming to the platform to see another season, or are we only feeding the people who are already there?” There’s all kinds of things that have to get considered that we didn’t have to deal with before.
So, I’m just grateful that Amazon has been so incredibly supportive of the show. I’ve been trying to reboot it from day 1, and when they announced what, at that time, was IMDb TV, which later became Freevee, and we became their first original show, that was unbelievable, and that they continued to support us. And then even when Freevee went bye bye, they still supported the show, moved us over to Prime. You’d have to check this, but I think we’re the first AVOD original show that moved to an SVOD platform. It’s incredible support.

We know they love the show, we know that they’ve been supportive, but we also know that they’re going to look at the numbers. They’re going to say, “Well, how many people watch this season, and how many new people are coming in?” If we hit the right targets, I think we will get a fourth season. If we don’t, I’ll find somewhere else to take the show. [Laughs]
Since making that initial comment about how streaming has changed the way television shows are examined for renewal,Devlin has also spoken to ScreenRantagain about the series. He told us that it will likely be “a while” before they hear about the fate of the show simply because of the way Amazon looks at the Prime Video numbers:

Amazon likes to get a lot of data, they usually wait until after the last show is aired, and then they want about six more months of data afterwards. I think on one hand, it’s great that they don’t have to rush, but on the other hand, it’s tough, because sometimes, you go two years in between seasons. So, we’re hoping we’d get word one way or another sooner than later, but I anticipate it’ll be a while.

Expect The Main Team To Return Again
Though original cast memberTimothy Hutton is absent fromLeverage: Redemption, the spinoff has shined because of the return of the characters from the classic series. This trend is expected to continue into season 4, with the team returning to dole out their own brand of justice in a corrupt world.Leading the charge is Gina Bellman as Sophie Devereaux, the team’s current mastermind and de facto leader. Meanwhile,Christian Kane should be back as Eliot Spencer, who now uses his successful food truck business as a mobile HQ for the team.
Parker (played by Beth Riesgraf) has returned to fill the role of master thief, and her relationship with Aldis Hodge’s Alec Hardison adds a bit of romantic intrigue. Speaking of the team’s original hacker, Hardison will likely return for season 4, but in a guest star capacity only. Noah Wyle’s Harry Wilson also appeared as a guest star in season 3, and it’s unclear if his role will continue to be smaller going forward. Aleyse Shannon plays Breanna Casey, the team’s new hacker and foster sister to Alec.

Leverage: Redemptionhas also done an interesting job of maintaining continuity with the original series by bringing in familiar faces fromLeverageto guest star.Drew Powell has returned multiple times as a former mark who changed his waysthanks to the Leverage team and now works with Leverage International teams on their jobs. It’s likely he’ll be back.Jeri Ryan also returned as grifter and friend to the team Tara, and it’s possible she could make another appearance if schedules aligned.

She appeared a handful of times in the series so far as the stepdaughter of one of Sophie’s old aliases, and now, an adult and an Interpol agent. More Cases For The Leverage Team To Tackle
The basic idea behind theLeveragefranchise is rather simple, with the team using their individual skills to take down corruption and abuse of the law at the highest level. However, it’s the clever plots and exciting execution of those cases that make for such an exciting viewing experience.
Of course,Dean Devlin has also made a promise to audience members if the show gets picked up for season 4: the series willintroduce the oft-mentioned but never-seen Nana. Nana raised Hardison and Breanna and has met at least a few members of the team off-screen, so her reputation has certainly been built up. In the past, the team has also made deals to get kids in the foster system a good guardian in the form of Nana, so her presence could even offer the return of previous characters in the show.

Season 4 will undoubtedly feature even more episodic cases, especially since season 3 appears to be moving into an even more episodic format. The season did not employ the use of as many overarching villains as the show has in the past. There are also some interesting character developments that have been blossoming in the spinoff as well.
While also trying to bring down white-collar criminals, the team must also deal with issues in their personal lives, so that they may get their own measure of “redemption” as well. Harry eventually learns to forgive his father, while Eliot still struggles to let anyone in after his botched relationship with U.S. Marshal Maria Shipp. Hardison has continued to struggle with what being on the team means for his other relief work.

All this makes the characters ofLeverage: Redemptionmore fleshed-out and relatable, which further adds to the intrigue of their weekly cases.
