Meet David Colton: Marvel’s New Captain America, Who Is a 6’8” Giant

Captain America#2 by Chip Zdarsky, Valerio Schiti, and Frank Martin Releases August 03, 2025

David Colton’s height of 6’8” was revealed in a character sketch that placed him side by side with Steve Rogers. The sketch also included an outline of a supposedly younger David, who once stood at just 5’4”, offering a striking visual comparison that emphasizes how large these heroes are compared to an average-sized human. Another sketch provided a detailed look at David’s overall character design.

The design reveals a suit that pays tribute tothe classic Captain America look, featuring the iconic shield, Cap’s signature chest star, and his character-specific helmet stamped with an“A.“However, there are also some major changes that make David’s Captain America look distinctly different from Steve’s.

Some fans may be surprised by this shift, given that red, white, and blue are the traditional colors of both the United States and Captain America.

Most notably, the suit features a dramatic color scheme change. The classic blue has been swapped out for a more greenish hue. Some fans may be surprised by this shift, given that red, white, and blue are the traditional colors of both theUnited States and Captain America. Still, it appears Marvel is moving toward a more grounded and realistic aesthetic.

David’s gear more closely resembles real-life military equipment.Since much of the U.S. military’s uniforms prominently feature green tones, this new color scheme aligns well with David’s modern and practical look. It’s one of the most significant updates to the character and helps set him apart from his predecessor.
