Now Marvel has confirmed Richard’s crime-fighting name, even though he and his family are unaware of the dark history it holds.
InUltimate Spider-Man: Incursion #1by Deniz Camp, Cody Ziglar, and Jonas Scharf, Miles Morales is accidentally transported to Earth-6160 while rescuing his sister, Billie. He ends up meetingthe Ultimate Universe’s Spider-Manand his son, Richard. Miles notes Richards black costume and inquires if he’s this world’s Venom, which Richard immediately takes to and adopts the moniker.
Though it looked like this was played for laughs, Richard’s new superhero identity is anything but a joke. On Marvel’s Facebook page, a post advertisingUltimate Spider-Man #18and its cast (as well as their secret identities) was made. Amid characters like Green Goblin and Mysterio, Richard is shown andMarvel officially advertises the boy as the Ultimate Universe’s Venom.

Richard Parker Has No Clue of the Dark Legacy Behind His Name
While there are a lot of similarities with Earth-616, the revitalized Ultimate Universe differs from its sibling world in quite a number of ways. In Richard’s case, he’s not even wearing a symbiote like the standard version of Venom. Instead, Richard is wearing a Picotech suit that has an artificial intelligence (modeled after Peter’s brain patterns) integrated into it.
Obviously, a teenager would take to a name like Venom. It sounds cool and it matches the badass look of his costume. But this world never had a Venom like Earth-616, and Richard isn’t aware of the horrible things associated with it. But in a new world, perhaps thisis the best way for the Venom mantle to be redeemed.
The New Ultimate Venom Can Give The Identity a Fresh Start
Richard Has a Great Opportunity to Be a New Kind of Venom
It’s early yet and with the Ultimate Universe only getting started, anything could happen. The AI in the suit could malfunction, making Richard go rogue. With a name and history like Venom,it seems like Richard is tempting fate. Or it could go the other way and Richard could actually be the most heroic Venom yet.
Now that Marvel’s officially confirmed that Richard Parker is the Marvel Universe’s newest Venom, anything is possible. Hopefully, the Ultimate Universe continues to give fans a different experience from Earth-616, and Richard ends up going down a path that resembles one more likeSpider-Man’sand less like Richard’s dark, new namesake.
