Marvel has hinted at Omega Red joining Marvel’s roster of anti-heroes before, butfans haven’t forgotten that Omega Red is canonically an unremorseful serial killer.

Omega Red Is One Of Marvel’s Worst Villains, So Why Does The Publisher Keep Trying To Make Him An Anti-Hero?
Omega Red Is Too Far Gone For Redemption
In the grand scheme of the Marvel Universe, many heroes, and especially anti-heroes, have a morally questionable past and a penchant for violence, with Wolverine and Deadpool being prominent examples. However, make no mistake,Omega Red has no moral nuance, as it is canon that Omega Red is a born serial killer who enjoys inflicting pain.
Knowing Omega Red’s horrific past as a long-time serial killer, is he truly a person Marvel fans want to root for or see fighting alongside the heroes?

As a child, Omega Red would kill animals and homeless people, and once he became a grown man in the USSR’s military, he would continue his killing spree. Moreover, though it is not stated in the comics,Marvel has noted in several official platforms, including its official handbook, that before becoming Omega Red, Arkady Rossovich sexually assaulted and murdered young girls.
Though Marvel normally depicts Omega Red as a villain,X-Men’sKrakoa erahad Omega Red join X-Force, alongside heroes like Wolverine and Sage, in an attempt to rehabilitate the villain. Marvel May Try To Make Omega Red A Hero, But His History Is Too Full Of Infamy And Cruelty
Omega Red’s Sick Past Makes Him Marvel’s Most Unforgivable Villain
InX-Force#31, Sage offers Omega Red time in the Shadow Room to create any scenario and get out his violent urges, hinting at friendship blooming between the two, but in this moment,Omega Red also admits he is going to use the room to do bad things. In the context of Omega Red’s past, he comes off even worse.
Omega Red does not kill people for money, or because he needs to make difficult choices;he does it because he enjoys it, and it’s safe to say there is no moral complexity in that sentiment.Even with the need to sustain himself, Omega Red has admittedthat draining one’s life forceand killing them is a bonus.
With Marvel’s sea of former villains turned anti-heroes,Omega Red does not need to be another morally grey anti-hero, and with his established origin story, Omega Red should not be one, especially considering his horrifyingly despicable track record.Marvelneeds to keep Omega Red as the unapologetically vile villain whom heroes like theX-Menovercome and eventually defeat.
Sinister’s Six#1will be available on July 20, 2025, from Marvel Comics.
