Summary
Minecrafthas released the second part of the villager trade rebalance as part of the pre-release 1 of version 1.20.2. WhileMinecrafthas added and removed various mobs over the years, villagers have been part of the game since the beginning. These NPCs serve as a type of company forMinecraftplayers but have undergone many changes over the years.
Villagers are passive mobs added in the beta version ofMinecraft. Initially, they shared the same AI as pigs and had five main professions. Remembered for their gibberish speech, socializing with each other, and the constant habit of opening and closing doors, villagers were just friendlyMinecraftNPCs. The usefulness of these mobs changed radically with the introduction of trading in update 1.3.1, allowing players totrade withMinecraftvillagersusing emeralds as currency. Over the years, villager trade has become part ofMinecraft, allowing players to access rare items more easily. Another change came with the release of the Village and Pillage update, which introduced the Wandering Trader.

Minecrafthas released pre-release 1 of version 1.20.2 with rebalancing adjustments for Cartographers and Armorers, twoprofessions thatMinecraftvillagers can have. Cartographers now sell seven new maps: Desert Village, Jungle Explorer, Plains Village, Savanna Village, Snow Village, Swamp Explorer, and Taiga Village. These maps point to a different village or structure, andMinecraftplayers can use them to find seven different biomes. Mojang introduced the change to helpMinecraftplayers quickly find a specific location, without waiting until they come across it by chance.
Armorers now sell diamond armor for a small price in diamonds and emeralds. This way, Mojang makes trading diamond armor less useful in the early game but keeps the advantage forMinecraftplayers who already have diamonds. Meanwhile, Armorers will be a great source of shields, iron armor, and emeralds for players in the early game. Chain mail armor will be sold only by the Swamp and Secret Jungle Armorers, and the Savannah Armorer will sell cursed diamond armor at cheaper prices. Finally, the Taiga Armorer will exchange one piece of diamond armor for another.
The changes to Cartographers and Armorers are the second part of the villager trades rebalance. The first part came in snapshot 23w31a whenMinecraftadjusted diamonds in a big wayand changed how Librarians and Wandering Traders work. As these are experimental changes, they don’t affect normal worlds.
