Monster Hunter Wildsis receiving additional free content in the form of Title Update 2, which includes a returning monster, several gameplay features, and new systems for players to expand their journey into the Forbidden Lands. With a recent Director’s Letter announcing a timeframe for when this update releases, Capcom has also hinted at what changes are coming to this next big drop of new content.
Title Update 2 comes after the August 04, 2025, patch for the game that introduced acrossover withStreet Fighter 6, which introduced a layered armor set for the world warrior Akuma. This update included weapon balance changes, new cosmetics, and 8-Star Tempered questsagainst difficult strengthened monsters. However, with that just being a collaboration event, Title Update 2 is expected to be much bigger.

When Title Update 2 Releases
Expect New Content Later This Month
According to an official post from theMonster HunterX Account, which you can see below,Title Update 2 is planned to release at the end of June 2025. This update is planned to drop new monsters for you to hunt, alongside several improvements and adjustments to gameplay.
Similar to Title Update 1, you’re able to expect the content within Title Update 2 to be fully revealed close to the exact release date. As of this time of writing, only a release window has been communicated, but it is likely thatTitle Update 2 content will be released periodically throughout the summer. Just as Title Update 1 content dropped over a few weeks, the new features of Title Update 2 will likely be spaced across June, July, and maybe even August 2025.

Most of thebalance changes and new gameplay features, such as layered weapons, will likely be available right as Title Update 2 drops. However, new monsters might take time to be added with Title Update 2 content. Just as Arch-Tempered Rey Dau was a limited-time event that took place a couple of weeks after Title Update 1’s release, don’t expect everything to be present right away.
Fan-Favorite Monster Lagiacrus Returns
Challenge A Returning Leviathan For New Gear
The most anticipated part of Title Update 2 is the new monster it includes -Lagiacrus. A returning monster fromMonster Hunter Tri, Lagiacrus is a Leviathan beast that hunters once had to face underwater. Thisserpentine monster has the features of a crocodile, acting as a fierce, almost dinosaur-like monsterwho has been a fan-favorite for many veteran players of the series.
Due to the wayMonster Hunter Wilds’gameplay is significantly different fromTri’s,Lagiacrus will likely have many mechanics changedwhen he arrives in Title Update 2. While players likely won’t have to fight the monster underwater, Lagiacrus will still be a challenging foe. If Lagiacrus is like any of his past iterations, it will have powerful Thunder and Water mechanics that make it a unique fight compared to all other monsters inWilds.

Just like with Mitzutsune in Title Update 1, Lagiacrus will come with new parts hunters can collect from successful quests to create new armor and weapons. New weapon trees for Lagiacrus will be unlocked, along with new armor piece skills and complete set bonuses.
It is unclear how difficult Lagiacrus will be compared to theincreased challenge of some monstersfrom previous updates. Like all the new monsters in the game, you will likely need to be a high enough Hunter Rank to face Lagiacrusfor the first time. When you meet this requirement, the Lagiacrus quest will unlock, allowing you to face off against this returning powerhouse.

Layered Weapon Equipment Allows Hunters To Keep Their Favorite Weapon Appearances
Make Stronger Weapons Without Losing The Look Of Other Ones
With Title Update 2 coming with an improved ability to view skill details from armor and weapons, there’s more encouragement than ever to create detailed builds for your next hunt. However, with the strength of Artian weapons, many players have voiced complaints about how they feel locked into using those weapons only, which all have a similar appearance.
When new update content drops, theDirector’s LetterforMonster Hunter Wildshas claimed that players can now use layered weapons.Layered weapons act like layered armor, where you can don the appearance of your favorite armor sets without worrying about its skillsor stats. For example, you could have a powerful piece of Rey Dau Gamma armor equipped, but have it resemble the look of a Guardian Rathalos armor piece.

Layered weapons can likely be changed or adjusted from your Camp locations, similarly to layered armor. Gemma, the Blacksmith at any region’s Base Camp, should also have options for you to swap out or create layered weapons for your next hunt.
Through layered weapons, players will have the choice to keep the looks of their favorite weaponswithout losing stats or skills. As an example, I will be able to keep the hourglass and Caeducus staff design of the Rompopolo Charge Blade while using stronger Artian CB stats. This applies to any of the 14 weapon types in the game, but available weapon appearances will only help create layered weapons if you’ve already crafted them at least once.

Title Update 2 Comes With New Weapon Balance Changes
One Weapon Gains More Effective Actions Against Monsters
The Director’s Letter also includes details surrounding new weapon balance changes coming to Title Update 2. According to the Letter, the Hammer is set to receive several buffs, including Offset effects to certain attacks that can counter a monster’s strike. In the same way as some other Offset attacks from other weapons, the Hammer now also gets a unique follow-up to this move to continue its offense after this effect activates.
Previous update changes inMonster Hunter Wildshave adjusted weapons, but none have given them new Offset properties to their attacks. This massive buff for the Hammer will make it easier to use against monsters, but it is not the only weapon receiving some love in Title Update 2.Dual Blades are also set to receive changes, but as of this time of writing, it is unclear if those changes will make the weapon stronger or weaker.

More weapon changes are planned in the future, with smaller updates likely coming through additional collaboration events and new content. For now though, Title Update 2 also plans to include several quality-of-life changes inMonster Hunter Wilds, from improved Seikret usability to more challenges for veteran hunters itching for more.
