There’s a brand-new update forClair Obscur: Expedition 33that has me excited to start yet another playthrough. Patch 1.3.0 rolled out early this week and includes some awesome new features that will make the game more enjoyable for newcomers and hardcore players alike. This is just the first update developers at Sandfall Interactive have promised in the months followingClair Obscur’slaunch, and it delivers on some highly requested features that give players even more options in terms of difficulty.

Developers at Sandfall Interactive have their eye on the ball when it comes to rolling out fixes for various bugs and introducing improvements to give players an all-around better experience. With the most recent patch, viaSteam, there are nearly 300 different bug fixes being addressed that cover a range of issues, from performance issues to weapon effects all the way to textures on certain enemies not loading properly. More importantly, though, patch 1.3.0 introduces new difficulty modifiers, and gives you the option to rematch thehardest boss inClair Obscur.

How Difficulty Modifiers Work In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 In Patch 1.3.0

Cap Damage Or Increase Enemy Health During Act 3 Of Clair Obscur

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33has quickly become one of the most talked-about andexciting games of the year, and for good reason. Patch 1.3.0 is a perfect example of why the developers at Sandfall are so highly regarded by their fans, focusing on quality-of-life improvements to the base game as opposed to rushing to announce andrelease a DLCto give players the best experience possible. This patchincludes a handful of new features inspired by community mods, such as aParry/Dodge window adjustmentfor Story Mode.

With Patch 1.3.0, Story Mode now increases the Parry/Dodge window by 40% and reduces incoming damage by 50%, making it substantially easier for players looking for a more laid-back experience.

Most significantly, there will now be new difficulty modifiers once you reach Act 3. There will now be new options available from the Expedition Flag menu that allows players to adjust characters' damage output as well as enemy HP. You can now limit the maximum damage output for your characters to 99,999 or 999,999, and you canincrease enemy HP by multiples of x2 all the way up to x100.This might sound absurd if you haven’t figured out how to “break the game,” as many players have done already, dealing billions in damage by stacking various buffs andoptimizing their Luminas.

You Can Now Fight Clair Obscur’s Hardest Boss Multiple Times

Defeat Simon Over & Over Again With Patch 1.3.0

Easily the hardestboss inClair Obscur, Simon has become an infamous endgame challenge for players, but up until now you’ve only been able to face off against him once per playthrough. In most cases, players have resorted to bypassing his incredibly challenging different phases by defeating him with a single shot and skipping his ridiculous multi-swing attacks. However, hardcore players have enjoyed the challengeof actually countering and dodging Simon, as well as planning out a strategy around his ability to erase the active party from the Canvas entirely, removing your top line from the battle permanently.

Now, you will have the opportunity to return to Simon’s location in the Abyss and actually face off against him as many times as you desire. This is the perfect feature for players who really want a challenge, especially given the above difficulty modifiers thatcan potentially give Simon an extra x100 HP buffand limit your damage output considerably.

Above all,Clair Obscur’spatch 1.3.0 is about giving players more options and allowing them to enjoy the game the way they want, which is a major factor in the game’s continued success. These features and bug fixes serve build some serious goodwill in the community and add replay value to a game that already has a ton of it. I’m excited for my next playthrough ofClair Obscur: Expedition 33,and even more excited about future updates from the team over at Sandfall.
